Capturing the invisible magic behind brewing beer out in the wilderness...what are we on about? It all sounds like chasing fairies, which is exactly where Dan comes in!An avid collector of wild yeasts, Dan uses these in his homebrewing set up to create some truly unique and amazing beers. Even lending his talents to some of Brisbane's most popular breweries, to produce some cool limited release products. We pay Dan a visit to see how the magic happens! We love our amazing sponsors Bintani, Konvoy Kegs, Craft Punks Canning, Rallings Labels and CRAFTD. Glass once again, our thanks. As industry people supporting the little guys like us, it's invaluable what they do for the industry, but also in support of us. A special thanks also to both Amber Hour App for giving us use of their app, and Beers Illustrated for providing us with our awesome logos and continual support when we accidently delete them! And it goes without saying, thanks to Hiker Brewing Concern for giving us excellent beer many times a week, and letting run amok in their brewery more times per week than anywhere else. And special thanks to you, our fans who may have watched or listened to this episode. Essentially, you're the reason we're doing this and it makes a world of difference. We could do it without you, but it wouldn't be as fun and probably not as worthwhile.#craftbeer #craftbeerpodcast #beer #brisbane #brewery #aussiebeervoyage #abv #craftbeerpodcast #podcast #australia #craftbeer #aussiecraftbeer #podcastinterviews #bintani #konvoykegs #craftd #craftappedaustralia #hops #beer #malt #homebrew #listeneverywhere #apple #google #spotify #youtube #brisbane
For this episode, Adsy was flying solo while Joel explored the USA for a few weeks. Hence they slightly more basic visual look. But there was nothing basic about the content of the chat that Adsy had with long time mate, Matt! An icon of the Brisbane craft beer scene, having worked making fantastic beers at Revel Brewing, Matt now heads to a new stage in his career - working for Clayton Hops. This company is based in New Zealand, but Matt will be representing them (and their top notch hops) right here in Oz! Gavin from Slipstream Brewing in Yeerongpilly, takes us for an awesome tour around this brewery that has expanded a huge amount in the past few years. From the brewery floor, to the trophy shelf (featuring an award from ABV!), and out back to the huge storage shed full of cans and barrels of beer ageing away, this was a very cool insight into this Brisbane brewery. We love our amazing sponsors Bintani, Konvoy Kegs, Craft Punks Canning, Rallings Labels and CRAFTD. Glass once again, our thanks. We've been keen to head to Bacchus Brewing in Capalaba for quite some time now, to chat with owner Ross. It was worth the wait. Not only did we tour the brewery and check out their new brew kit, we got to taste some very special small batch beers, including one made from 4000 year old Egyptian yeast! A first for Australia, and potentially the World. We love our amazing sponsors Bintani, Konvoy Kegs, Craft Punks Canning, Rallings Labels and CRAFTD. Glass once again, our thanks. Come for a look around Precinct Brewing on the Gold Coast with Jeremy the head brewer! This lovely, airy and open venue, lets the sea breeze in, while you enjoy a range of cracking beers on tap. Plus they even distil their own spirits for the bar. But where to start a tour like this? The big shed out back of course! We love our amazing sponsors Bintani, Konvoy Kegs, Craft Punks Canning, Rallings Labels and CRAFTD. Glass once again, our thanks. We jump onboard with Hop On Brewery Tours for a ride around the Gold Coast with Joslyn! Hop On was created by Jos and her partner Matt (he wasn't too keen on being on camera, so sent Jos to talk...which she's very good at) and is Queensland's original craft beer tour company, having been around for almost a decade now. There was plenty to chat about, both on the tour bus, and at our beer stop at Precinct Brewing. We love our amazing sponsors Bintani, Konvoy Kegs, Craft Punks Canning, Rallings Labels and CRAFTD. Our first brewery visit for the year, and we're off to Stapylton which is mid-way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Here you'll find a rather new entry to the craft beer scene in QLD, with Reece at the helm as head brewer and GM. The title of Carbon 6 comes from high level sounding science which we discuss in the episode, probably better to watch than let us explain...the beers were great though!
We wrap up 2024 with our year in review, looking back over some of our highlights while enjoying some beers from Hiker Brewing! Thanks to everyone for watching Aussie Beer Voyage this year, let us know your favourite moments in the comments below. See you next year. Cheers!
