How to put beer into cans? It's a pretty important question to answer, especially if you're a brewery that doesn't own a canning line. That's where mobile canning companies like Craft Punks Canning, come into play!
Our first craft beer podcast episode of the year, sees us return to Helios Brewing Company in Brisbane, where we chat to their new head brewer - Jake Harrison.
Jake cut his teeth working for many years at Ballistic Beer Company just down the road from Helios in Salisbury, before making the shift to a more simple life brewing solo at the solar powered Helios.
In this episode, Jake talks us through the brew kit, runs through some samples of the beers he's been making (including the sell-out hit Dionysus Oat Cream DIPA), before sitting down for a chat about his career highlights (and some low lights).
It's an epic way to start our voyage in 2024, so sit back, relax, crack a Saison, and enjoy!
Head to your favourite podcast platform to listen to the EXTENDED version of this episode, with even more cool insights and chat with Jake.
We love our amazing sponsors Bintani, Konvoy Kegs, Craft Punks Canning, Rallings Labels and CRAFTD. Glass once again, our thanks. As industry people supporting the little guys like us, it's invaluable what they do for the industry, but also in support of us.
A special thanks also to both Amber Hour App for giving us use of their app, and Beers Illustrated for providing us with our awesome logos and continual support when we accidently delete them! And it goes without saying, thanks to Hiker Brewing Concern for giving us excellent beer many times a week, and letting run amok in their brewery more times per week than anywhere else.
And special thanks to you, our fans who may have watched or listened to this episode. Essentially, you're the reason we're doing this and it makes a world of difference. We could do it without you, but it wouldn't be as fun and probably not as worthwhile.
This episode is the 24th and final episode not only of this season, but of this year! 2023 Year in Review is where Adsy and Joel take a look back at some of their best interviews, best moments, funny stories and more.
This episode was actually filmed at Hiker Brewing Co, just before we went live and filmed #23 – ABV Awards 2023. If you haven’t seen the awards post yet, you should check it out.
Being the first year that we’ve been doing the podcast, we had no idea how it would turn out. Would people watch, would anyone care, what if no one wanted to speak to us? Thankfully, all of those questions have been pushed side as we forged into the beer world without care.
It was safe to say, and easy for anyone to see, that the first episode left a lot to be desired. We weren’t really sure on how to structure an episode, how to ask questions, or what the questions would be. Adsy quickly abandoned the idea of having a bunch of pre-prepared questions and easily transitioned to going off the cuff. This resulted in a more natural conversation and there turned out to be not as many stops and starts.
We love our amazing sponsors Bintani, CRAFTD. Glass and Konvoy Kegs once again, our thanks. As industry people supporting the little guys like us, it’s invaluable what they do for the industry, but also in support of us.
A special thanks also to both Craftapped Australia for giving us use of their app, and Beers Illustrated for providing us with our awesome logos and continual support when we accidently delete them!

What were the stand out beers tried by Adsy and Joel in 2023? Wonder no more! Here's our ABV Awards ceremony for 2023, that we streamed live to our Facebook page on December 3rd, 2023 for viewers to enjoy in real time.
Thanks also to our new sponsors, Craft Punks Mobile Canning.

Part two of our massive chat with Matt Kirkegaard from Brews News! As expected, Matt turns the tables and fires off a few questions to Adsy at the start of this conversation, before more beer talk continues.

Helping people to build better breweries, and in turn, result in better quality beer for us all to drink. It's an important job! We chat to Lachy from WellBrewd Equipment about how he and his team make this all happen.

So Adsy met Jaimie, a Beer Traveller from the United States of America, while sitting at Hiker Brewing Concern one afternoon. It was only 5 minutes into the conversation before Adsy had heard enough and asked Jaimie if she’d be keen to film an interview. Little did Adsy know that there were two issues with his request.
Turns out, a few Hiker beers are perfect for convincing US beer tourists to have a chat. Who knew? Somehow the memo got missed about the interviews being filmed and not just recorded, but, well, Hiker beers aye?
