Authorized Novelizations Podcast

Buckle up for a month of James Bond multipath books!

It's time to discuss the real man the toy Buzz was based on.

This week on Authorized, we discuss limp POS film Lightyear. Specifically, the way it squanders the talent of its cast and has an extremely ill-defined science fiction reality. The book is also pretty meh! But I swear we have fun.

This is what reading that godawful novelization from last Thursday was all about. Today, we invite our resident video game expert Kris Sundet back to discuss the N64 game Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! Buzz is intent on rescuing Woody from Al and his toy barn. Can his willpower overcome the horrendous N64 camera and physics engine?

Monday on Authorized: Kris sticks around to read Lightyear

If this is your first episode of Authorized, I swear we talk about the books sometimes. This book is abhorrent. We mostly sing the praises of the great film Toy Story 2!

What do cheating husbands, flirtatious students, and deceased dogs have in common? Uh, we’re not really sure, but it moved us! This week on Authorized, Hannah, Andrew and Andrew pick apart the 2007 film The Jane Austen Book Club. If we’re not covering a book based on a movie, it’s gotta be a movie about books! But we’ll never cover a movie because it's based on a book, ever! It's important to Overbye that you understand that's not what's happening here. Them’s the rules. Also we get very into our cats’ various health issues on this one. Be warned.

The wheel demanded an arm-wrestling drama, and we oblige.

Hey, Batman's actually sort of a weirdo and Nicole Kidman is downright thirsty to help him bang out his issues in therapy. Today on the season finale of Authorized, we talk Two Face's tortured logic and super forced schtick. To defeat him, Batman will need an acrobatic child who looks 35. It's Batman Forever by Peter David!

Ah, 1969. The flamethrowers, the cultist murders, the unfettered gore. This week on Authorized, it's Once Upon A Time in Hollywood! Probably the only novelization we'll ever cover that's written by the director of the film, and arguably it's not a novelization at all. Follow your fearless hosts as we interrogate whether this director's fanfic of his own film improves, detracts, or so-so's original.
