Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes writer Gregory Erich Phillips to the show to chat about his new novel THE EXILE. A little about Gregory: Gregory Erich Phillips writes stories with strong characters whose lives, with their many challenges and joys, resonate with a wide audience. Raised in a literary family, Gregory began writing at the age of fourteen. His first novel, Love of Finished Years, won the Chaucer Award for historical fiction and the grand prize in the Chanticleer Reviews International Writing Competition. It was praised by Publishers Weekly, which called it “beguiling.” His second novel,The Exile was published by Koehler Book.

About THE EXILE: Leila stepped off the plane in Colombia, recognizing the familiar air. She couldn’t believe she’d been deported. It had to be a mistake. She had to find a way back before it was too late, before the people she fled from years ago were aware of her return. It had all been going so right. A successful career working for one of the top mortgage brokers in Phoenix. Love. Leila had all the elements of her life just where she wanted them. Then everything began to unravel, precipitated by the 2008 mortgage meltdown, and a romance that quickly spiraled out of control. The Exile is a heart-wrenching love story that crosses cultures and borders, shedding light on the challenges faced by Hispanic immigrants living in the United States. Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes back noir crime fiction author Michael Pool, author and podcast host of Crime Syndicate. Mike has this to say about himself: My crime noir novella, DEBT CRUSHER, has been reissued by Down and Out Books. TEXAS TWO-STEP released on April 2, 2018, followed by my new companion novel, ROSE CITY. Both are loosely based on the experiences I’ve had and people I’ve met both being a native Texas son and making a life in the western wilds of the Rocky Mountains. I’ve worked as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, private investigator, used car salesman (The worst salesman ever would be a better description), and a bellhop, among other slightly more nefarious things, over the years. I draw on these experiences along with my experiences growing up behind the pine curtain in almost all of my writing. I believe it is the writer’s greatest calling to both entertain and enlighten on the human condition. I try to do both with everything I write. I hope you enjoy reading my novels and stories as much as I enjoyed writing them. Cheers!
