MGN Radio welcomes Autism Activist, Lisa Whitson Riley to our show. She is a mom of 4 boys and 1 step-daughter. 2 of her boys are on the spectrum.  Lisa serves on numerous boards in an effort to spread awareness and education about Autism. On a Federal Level, she is a legistlative advocate, contributing efforts for the Combating Autism Reauthorization Act This would extend the legislation – which includes funding for critical research, services and treatment, and contains measures to ensure cost-efficient planning and coordination of these efforts – for three years at current funding levels. In addition, two related bills that would establish a National Autism Spectrum Disorders Initiative and increase services for people with autism were also introduced. On a State Level, Lisa organizes efforts to write every member of the Alabama Legislature regarding Autism Insurance Discrimination. She is working hard to change state insurance laws to require private health insurance policies to cover the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders for individuals under the age of 21. Join us for a great show with Lisa Whitson Riley!
