Joelle Hall is the Alaska AFL-CIO's Director of Operations and has been on board since 2006. She is a proud member of UFCW, Local 1496. She has a long resume of political experience from running extensive issue campaigns to heading up the efforts of the AFL-CIO labor program. Joelle served in the U.S. Army and is a graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She lives in Peters Creek with her husband and two children.

Mara Hill has been attending AUUF since the beginning of her angsty teenage phase in 2004. She became an RE volunteer in 2012, filled out her first pledge form after attending an Annual Meeting where the cost of coffee was included in the budget discussion and signed the book to become a member shortly thereafter. Mara has previously assisted in 4 A's luncheons and the Forum Committee, completed elementary OWL training this past April. During the week Mara works with preschool age children and their families as a mental health clinician at Anchorage Community Mental Health Services. She enjoys reading, hiking, and volunteering on whatever political campaigns her friends are running.

Sid McCausland describes himself as a professional boundary-spanner/change agent. His forty-year career included non-civil service assignments under California Governors Reagan, Brown & Deukmejian—assignments that ranged from crafting environmental legislation to CEO of the California Public Employees Retirement System. In Alaska, he assisted with the financing & right-of-way acquisition for the Anchorage sewerage system after the 1964 earthquake and the refinancing of the bankrupt Kenai electric utility. He is recognized currently for his unrelenting advocacy for folks without homes. Sid has adopted AUUF as his second family.

She has fought against repeal of the Affordable Care Act, attempts to defund Planned Parenthood, and efforts to ban Planned Parenthood educators from providing sex ed in schools. She has served on the steering committees for Alaska Women Ascend, which trains women to run for office, and Fair Anchorage, a coalition that helped defeat the anti-transgender ballot initiative in 2018. Raised in Wasilla, Jessica graduated from UAA with a BA in Political Science and Environmental Studies, and spent seven years working in the conservation movement.

Dale Gardner worked 25 years for the Alaska Dept. of Environmental Conservation in the Division of Spill Prevention and Response. He was integrally involved in DEC’s oversight of significant spills beginning with the Exxon-Valdez, creation of the state’s first comprehensive oil spill and hazardous substance response plans, and development of protection strategies for sensitive habitats—which gave him the much-appreciated chance to do field work in remote regions of the state. Since his retirement in 2014, travel adventures and volunteer work have included two stints working with refugees on the Greek Isle of Samos, home of Pythagoras and Epicurus

Jeff Landfield is editor of the Alaska Landmine, a political blog he describes as delivering “non-partisan Alaska news and gossip that other media outlets won’t report… And in a fun, entertaining and high-energy way!” He started it in 2017 after spending a year in Australia. Since 2018, he has created over a hundred Landmine Radio podcasts interviewing Alaskans in public life. Jeff moved to Alaska from New Mexico in 2004, and graduated from UAA in 2009 with a BA in History and minor in Economics. He worked in the IT and telecom industry for seven years, and has run twice as a Republican for a seat in the Alaska State Senate
