AUX Populi episodes

  • Blaqrock
This week, Andy is joined by the rap-rock band Blaqrock and their manager Hudson Hamilton. Much like the host of the show, the majority of the band are graduates from Columbia College Chicago, including their manager. Their recently released single “Mass Appeal” signifies the second era of Blaqrock, with the addition of their new bass player Austen.
It’s a long, winding conversation through the the usual topics, with an inspiring and emotional journey through the bands mutual appreciation for what each member brings to the group.
Stay tuned after the episode for two tracks, titled “Mass Appeal” and “Kicks”.

  • Cassandra Ann
Recorded down in Ottawa, IL, this week Andy’s guest Cassandra Ann is making her second appearance on the program, having appeared on a previous episode of the show that eventually became AUX Populi. Cassandra writes, sings, records, and produces her own music under the name Cinom Rahne Music. She is also the producer for Devil Frost Records, and the vocalist for the band Blacken the Day.
Stay tuned after the episode for two original Cinom Rahne tracks, titled “Little Rituals” and “Parchment”.

  • The Bellow + The Whale
This week, Andy took a trip to Wicker Park so he could record a full episode with Bianca & Julia from the Americana/Soul-Pop art duo, The Bellow + The Whale. It’s a conversation about inspiration, limitations, forgiving yourself, and what it’s like to be two creatives so in tune with each other’s ideas.
Stay tuned after the episode for a recently released track titled “Paperback”, and a soon to be released track titled “Ramblin”.

  • Homegrown Arts & Music Festival 2019
Recorded LIVE at the 2019 Homegrown Arts & Music Festival, today’s episode features a much quicker format, and (slightly) different questions.
Guests include: Julia & Bianca from The Bellow + The Whale, Josh from Observing with Annie, John from Loose Cannons, Adela & Michael from In Time, Dean & Craig from August Hotel, Joe/Groebe/Freddy/Parker from Ember Oceans, Brian Shamie from Chicago Sound Check, and Aaron & Ashley Williams from the Homegrown Arts & Music Festival and Homegrown rockumentary.
NOTE: recordings were affected heavily by the wind. What remains is the usable content from Saturday, July 27th. We apologize for the occasional dip in audio quality.

  • Tonic Freight Train
From the band Tonic Freight Train, it’s The Underbelly Hours co-host Dan Dick (making a first time “double” appearance), Lorenzo Esposito, Bryan Bishop, and Peter Josephs. Tonic Freight Train can be seen all around the Chicagoland area, and especially this Saturday at the 7th Annual Homegrown Arts & Music Festival in Lisle, IL.

  • A Million Rich Daughters
This week, Andy is joined by Brett, Jake, Rene, and Taylor from the band A Million Rich Daughters. Naturally for an episode featuring a band the conversation leans heavily on music, but also strays into atheism, the return of horse measurin’, the supernatural, and unspoken words to the audience.
Stay tuned after the episode for two unreleased tracks, titled “Dark Holly”, and “Melancholia”.

  • David Paige
On the first episode of AUX Populi, musician David Paige stops by to talk about his life in music, and his new passion for creating custom love songs. It’s an all out exploration of emotions and unexpected introspection for this inaugural episode, and that feels like the perfect way to begin.
Stay tuned after the episode for the original track “I Would Do Anything”, and the custom love song “Young Love”.
