Today we decided to take a crack at a fan appreciation episode! We just wanted to take a few minutes to thank everyone for comments, ratings, and listenership! We read through a couple comments (which Shawn wishes he had written more down beforehand), answer a couple fan questions, and allow a long-awaited DC takeover of the podcast, including Shawn's live reaction to The Batman trailer.

In another one-off episode before we truly run full force into Korra, we invite Jaimee back to talk about the second comic book in the series, which is appropriately mostly about Zuko: "The Search." We also let Jaimee weigh in retroactively on the Kyoshi novels and Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino's departure from the live-action Netflix adaptation.

Finally, after like 2.5 years' worth of podcasting, we've arrived at The Legend of Korra, Book 1: Air, Chapter 1 "Welcome to Republic City." It is serendipitous (and fairly recently planned, on our part) that we get to publish this episode on the exact date that The Legend Of Korra in its entirety comes to Netflix in the U.S.! We also touch (again) on Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino's decision to leave the live-action Netflix adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, a silly Pokémon podcast, and Chris' future plans to make videos a little more frequently.

It is with great displeasure and some rare profanities from Chris that we bring you this emergency episode of the podcast. Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have announced that they are leaving production of the Netflix live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and that they will have no involvement going forward. We hastily pulled together this mini-podcast to offer our thoughts, reactions, and (did I mention) grave disappointment.

About a year ago, we ranked every avatar from the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe. However, now that we have both of F.C. Yee's Avatar Kyoshi novels - The Rise of Kyoshi, and The Shadow of Kyoshi - we are much better informed than we were last time we had this discussion. That's why we decided to officially/scientifically/undisputedly re-rank every avatar from the universe in this week's episode of Avatar: The Last Podcasters!

SPOILER ALERT! As you can probably tell from the length of the video, in this gargantuan episode we walk through every chapter of "The Shadow Of Kyoshi" novel in nearly as much detail as we would do for any given episode of the show on the average podcast week. So, if you haven't read it, you might consider listening to our much shorter non-spoiler review.

Approximately one year ago, F.C. Yee treated us to a masterpiece of a novel called "The Rise of Kyoshi," a novel set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender Universe following Kyoshi's early days as avatar. Finally, in July 2020, the sequel is here. We won't reveal too much in this episode - we're saving it up for a massive, in-depth discussion coming soon - but we couldn't wait to at least get our our preliminary, completely spoiler-free thoughts on "The Shadow Of Kyoshi."
