Staying home is how most people want to live out their life. When Alzheimer’s becomes a part of your life you’ll likely hear, more often than you care to, that this is probably not possible.

For adult children caregivers, this may be the case, but for spouses, it may be possible to care for someone living with Alzheimer’s at home longer than you’d expect. Each year they don’t have to go into an assisted living memory care residence is another year you have together. It’s also another year you’re not spending your retirement on their care.

How do some people manage to care for someone until the end? What tips and suggestions can we try? Can we really care for someone at home without losing our own minds?
