Not being where you'd thought you'd be yet is SUCH a common area where we tend to beat ourselves up.
This can be:
Not being married when you thought you would be
A marriage not going how you thought it would
Not having kids when you thought you would or as many as you thought you would
Not living where you thought you would live
Not having as much debt paid off or income earned as you thought you would
Not seeing as many countries as you were just sure you'd visit by ___ age
Not having the house you dreamed of by this exact age and date and time
Any of this sounding familiar? The list of where we do this isn't limited to this list. We all have an area or areas where we feel that sting of self-disappointment.
But when we don't take the time to actually deal with these feelings, acknowledge, feel, pray, work through, pray more, dream again, etc then we'll always feel this gap between ourselves and God. When we create that gap and replace it with disappointment we're actually hurting OURSELVES. This practice is exactly what limits us and "holds us back."
