  • WPS305: Fannie Mae Processes over a Quarter Million Loans per Day w/ Amazon S3
In this session, Fannie Mae discusses how they completely re-architected a mission-critical application using AWS native services that process hundreds of thousands of mortgage loans every day in a highly scalable and reliable manner. The transaction-heavy workload uses over 20+ million Amazon S3 transactions a day, each within 150-millisecond response times, thus providing increased uptime and faster response.

  • WPS315: Changing the Way the Intelligence Community Moves Data
In this session, we feature the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), a key stakeholder and sponsor for the new AWS Secret Region, which supports workloads up to the Secret U.S. security classification level and is readily available to the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). NGA uses AWS Snowball Edge to support War Fighter, utilizing imagery from NGA's Open Data Store and implementing geospatial applications on the edge. AWS Snowball Edge allows NGA to directly support its mission, providing products and services to decision makers, warfighters, and first responders when they need it most. Enabling the edge changes NGA's ability to share critical resources, data to facilitate user access meets NGA's mission needs, and support the IC and Department of Defense as a whole Complete Title: AWS re:Invent 2018: National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency: Changing the Way the Intelligence Community Moves Data (WPS315)

  • WPT203: We Power Tech: Addressing Intersectionality in Tech

Are we reaching our marginalized customers? What can we do to provide a platform for those voices to be heard and support their efforts. In this session, we hear from technical leaders on the best ways to work with and include marginalized communities. This session is brought to you by AWS partner, Accenture.

  • WPT204: The Role White Men Play in Creating a Culture of Full Inclusion (WPT204-S)
Everyone has a role to play in creating and sustaining an inclusive work environment, but white men often opt out of, or are excluded from, diversity and inclusion efforts because the focus is on underrepresented groups. When white men are fully engaged in diversity efforts, they can help effect change at every level, and they also benefit from a healthy, inclusive workspace. Participants explore assumptions regarding white men, diversity, and leadership that impact behavior and shape the work environment, and they identify the next steps they can take to become fully inclusive partners working across differences to foster an equitable workplace culture. This session is brought to you by AWS partner, Accenture. Complete Title: AWS re:Invent 2018: We Power Tech: The Important Role White Men Play in Creating a Culture of Full Inclusion (WPT204-S)
