  • WIN307: Security Best Practices for Microsoft Workloads
Deploying Microsoft products on AWS is fast, easy, and cost-effective. Before deploying these applications to production, it's helpful to have guidance on approaches for securing them. In this session, we outline the principles for protecting the environment of Microsoft applications hosted on AWS, with a focus on risk assessment, reducing attack surface, adhering to the principle of least privilege, and protecting data.

  • WIN320: Operationalizing Microsoft Workloads
In this session, we discuss best practices and approaches for managing your Microsoft Windows-based infrastructure on AWS. We describe the AWS services that can help you manage Windows servers at scale and realize the maximum benefit of the cloud. In addition, we show you how to build simple and effective solutions to manage logging, configuration drift, inventory, licensing, and more. Please join us for a speaker meet-and-greet following this session at the Speaker Lounge (ARIA East, Level 1, Willow Lounge). The meet-and-greet starts 15 minutes after the session and runs for half an hour.

  • WIN401: Architecting ASP.NET Core Microservices Applications on AWS
In this session, learn how to architect, configure, and deploy an ASP.NET Core microservices application running in containerized AWS Fargate tasks. We cover how to use Amazon DynamoDB for session state and how to use Amazon Cognito for identity management. We also discuss using Amazon ECS for service discovery and AWS CodePipeline to create CI/CD pipelines for each microservice so that each one is individually deployed when an AWS CodeCommit repository is updated. Join us, and learn everything you need to know to start designing and deploying containerized ASP.NET Core applications on AWS.

  • WPS203: You've Decided to Buy Cloud Services, Now What?
In this session, we look at cloud-ready contracts from around the world. We compare and contrast these contracts through scope identification, end-user eligibility, and primary service offerings (i.e., MSP vs. IaaS resale) to help you determine a contract pathway that meets your mission needs. We discuss considerations for buying cloud services so that end users and organizations can extract the full benefits and power of AWS. Join us and gain an understanding of how to approach shared security, utility pricing, data location, innovative services, governance, and terms and conditions for a successful procurement effort.

  • WPS204: Building a Governance, Risk, and Compliance Strategy with AWS
In this session, learn how Dr. Julia Lane, Director of the Administrative Data Research Facility (ADRF) at NYU, used AWS and AWS Public Sector Partner Earthling Security to build a software-as-a-service (SaaS) research and analysis environment that hosts sensitive U.S. Census Bureau data. The ADRF hosted almost 50 confidential government data sets from 12 different agencies at all levels of government. The ADRF chose AWS to meet strict security and governance requirements such as FedRAMP compliance, ease of implementation, and robust native security. AWS provided NYU a complete set of infrastructure, application, and security services perfectly suited for U.S. government requirements. In addition, AWS discusses how these principles and practices can be applied to an organization's governance, risk, and compliance needs.

  • WPS205: Finding Tech Talent: Creating the Next Generation of Cloud Workers
On LinkedIn, the #1 skill for three years in a row is cloud and distributed computing. The pressure on our educational system to produce tech-ready employees, and on companies to source talent, is enormous, with ripe opportunities for disintermediation. In this session, hear from the disruptors who are collaborating with AWS Educate in order to rapidly change the trajectory and impact that global skills gap. Meet both the supply and demand side for cloud jobs.

  • WPS303: Unlock Highly Regulated Enterprise Workloads w/ SaaS (AWS GovCloud [US]) WPS303
AWS GovCloud (US) is isolated AWS infrastructure and services designed to allow US government agencies and enterprises in highly regulated industries to move sensitive data and regulated IT workloads to the cloud by addressing specific regulatory and compliance requirements. While enterprises and organizations are increasingly integrating software as a service (SaaS) technologies into their IT environments, they often require SaaS products to address the same compliance features of the AWS GovCloud (US) Region. In this session, we discuss the opportunities for SaaS in AWS GovCloud (US), how SaaS vendors should approach building products in AWS GovCloud (US), key architecture and operational considerations, and best practices for bringing a SaaS product on AWS GovCloud (US) to market.
