  • Ep. 634: Cards Lose Again At Wrigley After Oli Chooses... Brandon Crawford For Key AB

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 6-3 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley on Friday as Erick Fedde did not exactly shine in his Redbird debut.

Nolan Arenado also had a moment in this contest that Brenden insists was "bad baseball" and cost the Cardinals a chance to climb back into the game.

There was another moment perhaps even more costly, though, in the eighth inning that involved Brandon Crawford taking a key at-bat with the bases loaded instead of the red-hot Michael Siani... And the explanation from Oli Marmol for managing the moment like he did simply fell flat.

  • Ep. 633: Ain't Gonna Lie To Y'all... That One Stung For The Cardinals!

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals walk-off loss to the Cubs from Thursday night at Wrigley as Ryan Helsley picked a bad day to have a bad day.

Instead of riding into the rest of the weekend on a nice winning streak, the Cardinals were knocked down a peg by the rival Cubs who scored three in the ninth to come back from a multi-run deficit.

Down to their final strike, the Cubbies found a way.

Rather than set the tone for the weekend like we thought the Cardinals were doing with their right-handed-heavy start to the batting order (which ended up largely working out for Oli Marmol from those players performance in the game), we see the Cardinals have a real tough one slip away from their grasp.

We spend some time talking about who to blame and why the suggestions of Oli Marmol letting anyone other than Helsley ride the storm out in the ninth are just foolish.

  • Ep. 632: Mike McGreevy SHOVES in MLB Debut With Cardinals!

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the epic first career start and MLB debut by Cardinals pitcher Michael McGreevy on Wednesday as the Cardinals trounced the Rangers, 10-1.

McGreevy sailed through seven innings to make a great first impression at the big-league level.

Lance Lynn went on the IL, shuffling rotation plans.

And Tommy Pham not only continued to hit the cover off the ball, but has seemingly had his hard-nosed and fundamental style of baseball already permeate through the rest of the team. What a day for the Cardinals once again!

Down on the Farm returns with a new intro and an update on three different levels of the minor league system.

  • Ep. 631: PHAM SLAM! Tommy Pham Shows EXACTLY Why The Cardinals Brought Him Back!

Brenden Schaeffer breaks down one of the games of the year as the Cardinals beat the Rangers 8-1 at Busch Stadium on Tuesday, trade deadline day, with newcomer and old friend Tommy Pham calling GAME in the fifth inning as he delivered a pinch-hit grand slam in front of a raucous crowd.

Pham showed exactly why the Cardinals needed him as Oli Marmol now has a fighting chance to do some interesting managerial moves. A RH bat like Pham coming off the bench is a luxury the Cardinals haven't had in a hot minute.

Lance Lynn pitched as well as he could tonight despite some tricky circumstances.

We'll see the debut of Michael McGreevy on Wednesday, apparently!

And the Dylan Carlson saga with the Cardinals has mercifully come to an end. We tell you our thoughts on that deal and plenty of other things from deadline day.

We didn't even remember to mention Flaherty going to the Dodgers, that is how insane Tuesday was.

  • Ep. 630: Can The Cardinals Swing Another Trade Before 5 P.M. Tuesday?

Brenden Schaeffer discusses Monday night's Cardinals loss to the Rangers, 6-3 at Busch Stadium.

Andre Pallante pitched, and he did what he does -- he got groundballs. This time, though, they found holes.

Cards got a HR from Carp. But not much else.

Will Pallante be replaced by Fedde in the rotation? We'll explain why it seems like that could be the case.

Can Mozeliak swing another trade before Tuesday's deadline? We discuss the immediate future for Dylan Carlson and how the Cards could look to resolve his situation imminently.

We also get some insight from Mo on how the 3-team deal involving Edman, Fedde and Pham went down with the Dodgers and White Sox.

  • Ep. 629: BREAKING: Cardinals Trade Tommy Edman for Erick Fedde and & Tommy Pham! Instant Reaction Podcast!

Brenden Schaeffer went LIVE to discuss the Tommy Edman for Fedde and Pham trade on Monday afternoon, July 29, 2024. The three-team deal with the Dodgers and White Sox leaves A LOT to unpack.

This is a major shakeup in which the Cardinals (apparently, still not official) did not give up major prospect considerations to add a controllable SP and a legit RH-hitting CF option. And could Pham be just the rusty nail this clubhouse needs to find its edge toward October?

NOTE: Cardinals gave up 17-year-old Dominican Summer League pitcher Oliver Gonzalez in the trade, which was not known at the time of recording. More to come Monday night on B-Schaeff Daily.

  • Ep. 628: Cardinals Ownership Told Mozeliak He Can't Add To Future Payroll At This Trade Deadline?

Brenden Schaeffer did a live stream on YouTube Sunday night following the Cardinals' walkoff win over the Nationals. This is the audio from the B-Schaeff Daily Live stream.

The conversation was largely about swirling rumors on Tommy Edman. Will he be traded to the Dodgers or Yankees?

And... Why? Does this concept reek of the possibility that -- and multiple outlets reported Sunday -- Cardinals ownership has told the front office it can't take on additional future salaries at this trade deadline?

If ownership is already worried about 2025 payroll at this deadline, Mozeliak and Company might have to fit the camel through the eye of a needle to have a productive deadline this week... We talked about it all, in depth. One of our most popular live streams of all time!

  • REACTION: Cardinals DFA Giovanny Gallegos — What's Their Next Move?

The Cardinals announced Sunday morning they have designated Giovanny Gallegos for assignment, ending the run in St. Louis for the most tenured reliever in the Cardinal bullpen.

Will Gio find a new gig soon and what are the avenues toward that potentially materializing quickly? Plus, how active will the Cardinals be in replacing his spot with a potential trade?

  • Ep. 627: Cardinals Are Fading Fast — Is It Even Worth Buying Anymore?

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the growing sentiment among some Cardinals fans that it might not even be worthwhile to see the front office buy at the trade deadline amid the team's recent skid.

The Cardinals have lost 9 of 14 and have fallen 2.0 games out of a wild card spot in the NL standings. After a 14-3 loss to the Nationals on Saturday, is it fair to wonder whether this team has the makeup to make a run even if it gets some fresh additions over the coming days?

Brenden also tackles the sentiment that the Cardinals should actually about-face entirely and become sellers at the deadline. It's an interesting idea, but is it one that is tethered to reality?
