Back Chat Show

S04E05 - With a big win at Reno behind them, the Switchbacks head to Sacramento for midweek match by Back Chat Show

Paul and Jason emerge from hiding and juggle time between the previous weekends victory over RGV, this weekends game against Reno, and USL's stupid, ignorant, and short sighted decision to go all in on ESPN+ and put a paywall between fans and the game. Stupid.

Paul and Jason try to digest the Switchbacks first road trip of the season, both 0-1 losses. Goalless in 305 minutes, 3 game losing skid... what do they think the problem is? Players, coaching? Front office? All of the above? Can the team pull out of a nosedive and still save the season?

Jason and Paul discuss the Switchbacks season opener against LA Galaxy 2, and the following match against Portland Timbers 2.

Jason and Paul are in preseason form as they kick off the 2018 season. A breakdown of new players, returning players, new players who are returning, and the strange case of Masta Kacher. And an offseason wouldnt be complete without mention of the downtown stadium efforts.

Back Chat co-host Mark Turner kept a diary throughout the Switchbacks 2017 season, documenting every 'Backs match, as well as providing details and opinion on various other parts of what was a roller coaster season!

If you would like to check out Mark's book entitled 'Season Disorder; One Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Fans Journey Through the 2017 USL Season', you can find it on Amazon.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF).

For the final time this season, the guys analyze the Switchbacks latest triumph, another impressive victory over Tulsa Roughnecks. Four great goals, our first and only 3-consecutive wins this season, and our first come-from-behind win (FINALLY!) in THREE YEARS!

Then Jason and Mark transition to the extensive season overview with a little help from their friend, Back Chat alum Paul. The guys discuss leadership, recruitment, budget, what it takes to make a team gel, budget, connections to youth soccer, the PDL, budget, the high-points and the low-lights of the season, and did we mention budget?

Also, your 2017 Supporters Player of the Season winners are revealed!

As this is the last Back Chat Show of the year, thanks again to everyone for listening. Your support of the Switchbacks is essential. Your support of us is simply a kindness, one that we never take for granted, and will be forever grateful.

The Switchbacks record back to back to victories following their latest defeat of Sacramento Republic FC - will it be enough to snag that final play-off spot? (spoiler: this was recorded on Monday. The answers no.)

In this, our 101st audio feature (yeah, we were surprised too!), the Back Chat guys fly through Saturday's game, lingering momentarily on the greatness that was Stonewall Jackson, Frater, and Suggs, before transitioning to everything that happened on Sunday, and what it all means for our beloved Switchbacks...

We have undoubtedly our most frank 'Extra Time' conversation of the season, with none other than Switchbacks FC skipper Rony Argueta.

Rony discusses the challenge of being a skipper and what he's learned about the role this season, offers up some potential candidates to succeed him as this years supporters 'Young Player' award winner, and sums up the Switchbacks 2017 campaign in one very interesting word...

If you only listen to one 'They Think It's All Over...' this season, any of them will do. They're much the same. In this one, however, Mark and Jason get to celebrate another Switchbacks victory over Orange County Blues FC. (yes, we know they don't have 'Blues' in their name anymore, but on the off chance an OCFC fan is listening, we want to take the opportunity to add insult to defeat!)

Also in this episode, not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Switchbacks players post-game interviews! (none with OC Blues players, opposition fan listener, just in case you weren't mad enough at us already).
