    This week on Bloodbath, we take look back on the 2018/19 Image Series Skyward! Written by Joe Henderson with art by Lee Garbett, Skyward takes place 20 years from now where gravity has become just a fraction of what it was. Humanity has adapted to the low gravity world and for Will Fowler, who was born just before G-Day, it’s the only world she’s every known. But life isn’t perfect, especially for her father. He warned folks about G-Day and even had a plan in case it happened. Now it’s up to Willa to put that plan into action. But is it the right plan?



    Skyward takes a new turn on tales of the future. It presents a “coming of age” road story and a protagonist that you can’t help but root for. Smartly written with twists and turns that will surprise but not feel out of place, it’s an adventure comic that delivers on all of it promises.



    Join Andrew and Petula as they take you on a light journey with deep characters and an uplifting tale of heroism.   • The Identity of The Superhero

    This week on Bloodbath, we dive deep into the meaning behind the identity of the superhero! In a 2017 interview with Brazil’s Folha de São Paulo, Alan Moore was asked about his thoughts on superheroes. Moore stated that he believed that they were fine for children but not for adults, for whom they serve a “different function, and are fulfilling different needs.” The Watchmen creator had much more to say on the matter.



    “I would also remark that save for a smattering of non-white characters (and non-white creators) these books and these iconic characters are still very much white supremacist dreams of the master race. In fact, I think that a good argument can be made for D.W. Griffith’s Birth of a Nation (1915) as the first American superhero movie, and the point of origin for all those capes and masks.”Alan Moore

This week on Back Issue Bloodbath, we take a trip to the raceway at Nova Honda to talk about Motor Crush! If you like motorcycles, racing and colourful characters, this is a series for you. Domino Swift is one of the top racers in the sport. She’s also involved in illegal street racing to win some rare and valuable contraband: Crush. Crush is a performance enhancement drug that makes your bike go faster. Human consumption is a big no-no. This stuff will kill a person almost instantly….all except for Domino, that is.



    Created by Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart, and Babs Tarr, Motor Crush was first released in the spring of 2017. Since then, 11 issues (now collected in 2 trades) have made their way to the comic stands. At first glance, the book has strong Fast and Furious vibes. But the series is more than that. Part Sci-Fi, Part Family Drama, part feast for the senses, this series has shades of The Warriors, Speed Racer, Akira and more!



    Join Andrew and Petula as they get their motor running and talk about Motor Crush. It’s a good way to spend your time.

    Anyone who’s listened to even one episode of Bloodbath already knows that Andrew is a big fan of Daredevil. So it’s no surprise that we’re talking about the Man Without Fear once again. And like most times, we’re covering an iconic run of the masked vigilante’s comic series. It just so happens that the run in question is still ongoing! This week on Bloodbath, we’re looking at the current run of Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky.



    Close to the beginning of his run, Chip made an appearance on Geek Hard to talk about his work on DD. The man spoke of the reverence he has for Matt Murdock and the character’s history. That reverence is on great display in the ripping yarn he’s weaving. The story focuses on the duality of Matt and his greatest rival, Wilson Fisk, the former Kingpin and current mayor of New York. The series has all the touchstones of a classic Daredevil story but from a fresh angle. It’s a real treat for DD fans old and new!



    Join Andrew and Petula as they take a deep dive into the first 16 issues of Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky. You’ll need all your five senses to truly appreciate this one. That’s a lie. You only need your hearing. If Daredevil were here, he would know it was a lie by listening to my heartbeat. You probably know it’s a lie by using common sense.
