Back on the Air! Rapidly Rotating Records – December 4, 2022

Harry T. Burleigh Go Down Moses Broome Record Label

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

This week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records starts with a celebration of our return to the air with new shows after a several week break due to computer issues. The record shown above is the only known side recorded by Harry T. Burleigh. You’ll hear a bit about Burleigh’s life and a couple of other examples of his work in the second segment of this week’s show  We will also be presenting birthday celebrations for Ethel Shutta, George Wilton Ballard and Maurice Sigler.  There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click the audio player above to listen streaming online and/or download the show for listening at your convenience.

I’m happy to report that our computer issues are nearly fully resolved and we have a brand new edition of Rapidly Rotating Records for you this week. And it’s a pretty darn good one, if I do say so myself! Thank you for your patience and support during this challenging and stressful time.

THANKS FOR LISTENING!
