Gaius and Jackson join the Hollywood Burglar Bunch by celebrating the tenth anniversary of The Bling Ring. Directed by Sofia Coppola, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Emma Watson, Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, Taissa Farmiga, and Claire Julien. Based on the 2010 Vanity Fair article, “The Suspects Wore Louboutins” by Nancy Jo Sales, the film deals with the real-life gang known as the Bling Ring and follows a group of fame obsessed teenagers who use the internet to track celebrities’ whereabouts in order to burgle their homes. The paid get into the true story that inspired the film, performances, Sofia Coppola’s direction, and if it was fair to negatively criticize the film for its morally ambiguous approach towards the subject matter.

Gaius and Jackson get into Superman: Legacy pairing up actors and actresses to take on the role of Clark Kent and Lois Lane as well as revealing their short-list for the role of Lex Luthor. The pair also discusses Warner Bros. Discovery looking to sell half of their film and television titles, the drama behind what’s going on with Turner Classic Movies, and Marvel, Sony, Universal, Netflix and more pulling out of San Diego Comic-Con due to the writer’s strike and the looming SAG strike. The duo also breaks down the new trailers for Challengers, starring Zendaya, Dumb Money and Sofia Coppola’s Priscila. After over a month since the last deep dive due to some technical issues, Gaius and Owen are back with Owen’s pick, Good Time. Directed by Josh and Benny Safdie (The Safdie Brothers) and written by Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, the film stars Robert Pattinson as a small-time criminal who tries to free his developmentally-disabled brother from police custody, while attempting to avoid his own arrest. The duo get into Robert Pattinson’s performance, which earned him raves from critics, the filming style of the Safide Brothers, and the film is able to build up a level of anxiety through a visceral visual style that is just as much a character as the performers in the film.

The Back To The Blockbuster team takes it back to the class of 1998 by revisiting the late 90s teen classic, Can’t Hardly Wait, for its 25th anniversary. No anniversary from the late 90s is complete without our boy Mark J. Parker from the Release Date Rewind podcast and that’s why he’s joining the team on this trip back to the last great high school party for the class of 98. Written and directed by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, the film stars Ethan Embry, Charlie Korsmo, Lauren Ambrose, Peter Facinelli, Seth Green, Jennifer Love Hewiit, and a slew of other actors from the teen movie movement that appear in very fun cameo roles. The story takes place at a high school graduation party and consists of interconnecting stories that result in various angsty developments. This is a first time watch for Jackson so he’s approaching it from a very fresh perspective while Mark and Gaius look back on seeing the the film for the first time in 1998, its relevance at the time of its release, why it didn’t turn into a big hit in theaters but ultimately became a huge cult favorite that still endures today.

Gaius and Jackson celebrate the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park by looking back at the Steven Spielberg that quickly became a gamechanger for the industry the moment it was released. Based on the 1990 novel of the same name by Michael Crichton, the film stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Joseph Mazzello, and Arian Richards and it is set on the fictional island of Isla Nubar, off Central America’s Pacific Coast near Costa Rica. The story follows a wealthy businessman and a team of genetic scientists that have created a wildlife park of de-extinct dinosaurs. When industrial sabotage leads to a catastrophic shutdown of the park’s power facilities and security precautions, a small group of visitors struggle to survive and escape the new perilous island. The duo looks back at the making of the film, its groundbreak special effects, characters and performances, as well as its legacy 30 years after its initial release.

Gaius and Jackson head to the woods to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the cult horror hit, Wrong Turn. Directed by Rob Schmidt and written by Alan B. McElroy, the film stars Desmond Harrington, Eliza Dushku, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeremy Sisto and Kevin Zegers, and it follows a group of six individuals being stalked by a cannibalist family in the woods The pair dig into some of the tension filled scenes that have made the film a cult hit over the years, the acting and characters, why the movie may have underperformed in 2003 and why it has gained a fanbase that has allowed the film to spawn a horror movie franchise.
