Returned to the outskirts of God’s Rest, the Bronze Scales make their way into the shelter of the city. Stealing a moment of privacy from their new winged watcher, the party discusses what they learned from Tasha, and where their road will lead next. Amsen and Vesper seek the mysterious Amethystus, while Felix makes a new friend, and Bál is presented with a tempting offer. In the morning, Felix leads their research effort, while the rest of the party parlays with an old enemy.

As the Bronze Scales near the docks of Smo, a wave of necrotic energy crashes over them from the bleeding sky. Vesper is struck to her soul by it, and remains shaken as they enter the city on the search for her long lost parent. Through clandestine meetings and secretive spells, the party locates Halos Fidelis and sets out to infiltrate the manor of a dangerous celestial in attempt to reunite mother and daughter after over twenty years of separation.
