Two young BMX experts, PJ and Goose, meet Judy (played by a very young Nicole Kidman), and they hit it off immediately. They find some walkie-talkies to be used in a bank robbery and uncover the thieves, finding themselves in a race against the villains and the cops, and luckily their BMX experience comes in handy as they navigate their way through fast-paced chases using clever tricks and BMX skills, culminating in a memorable set piece involving waterslides, bags of flour, foaming fertilizer and their sweet bikes.

Heavy in mystery, this neo-noir science fiction tale features amazing effects work and a winding and weaving story that failed to connect with audiences at the time, but has become a cult classic over the years, especially with the release of the Director's Cut.

Yahoo Serious stars in, writes, and directs this flick that follows Albert Einstein as he uncovers the formula E=MC² after a night of heavy drinking, leading to the splitting of the beer atom and the discovery of adding bubbles to beer. This leads him on an odyssey across Australia on which he meets famed scientist Marie Curie, and pompous patent clerk Preston Preston, who wants to sell his formula to the Bavarian Brothers. Along the way, he invents rock and roll, the electric violin, and surfing, all while wooing Curie and trying to save his discovery from evil doers.

We're kicking off a month of Australian cinema with 2009's Daybreakers!

We pivoted on our first film of the month to talk about the great Sam Neill in Daybreakers, who just passed away in July. In the dystopian future of 2019, vampires are the dominant species, and the Bromley Marks Corporation, run by Charles Bromley (Sam Neill), controls the blood supply and faces a dwindling human population and looming blood shortage. Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a hematologist researching a blood substitute to keep the populace from starving and turning into mutated "subsiders", feral and animalistic vampires. He joins forces with a leader of the human resistance, Audrey, and cured vampire, "Elvis," played by Willem Dafoe. They have to discover how Elvis was cured and try to help the world before it's too late.

He is sucked into a tale of intrigue involving the Crimson Jihad, a terrorist organization attempting to acquire nuclear weapons, while his wife, in the midst of a midlife crisis, starts dating a used car salesman masquerading as a secret agent. A horse chases a motorcycle, a bathroom is destroyed, a Florida island is nuked, and a Harrier jet takes out a large portion of Miami. Peak Cameron is imminent.

Our friend Tyler from the ska band Swigfoot will be joining us this week to talk about FDR: American Badass! After being stricken with polio from werewolves and bound to a wheelchair, President Roosevelt (Barry Bostwick) must join forces with his friend Louis (Bruce McGill), Abraham Lincoln (Kevin Sorbo), and Douglas MacArthur (Ray Wise) to defeat the Axis powers, coincidentally also run by werewolves. This is one of those movies that knows it's bad and embraces it, which we usually avoid, but Tyler enthusiastically brought it to us, and we couldn't say no. It is America's 250th birthday, after all.
