  • Five-Year Career Window, Career Enhancer #2

This weeks episode of Bainology Podcast is the 2nd installment of the Seven Career Enhancers. The best career advice that Jeff refers to is the one where he was informed that a person has to be "working" on today what they desire to become professionally five-years down the road.  Not that what you are doing now is bad, but if you expect to be doing something bigger and better in five years; now is the time to begin the "tip-toeing" in that direction.

  • Leadership Requires Empathy

This weeks Bainology Podcast, the 22nd Anniversary week of 9/11, provided me the opportunity to reflect back of what I learned required of leadership. It provided a slap in the face of the value of having empathy for one another. Our students on campus, and across American, were NOT necessarily looking for answers, they just needed someone to talk to.  Someone to share their angry, fear, frustrations, heartbreak and anxiety with.  They just needed someone to listen to, someone to show them they cared.

This week's Bainology episode focuses on the value of having established your "True North" to be successful within any leadership role; whether it be at home, office, church, community or just your neighborhood.  Your True North is unique to you and only you; it is your authentic self and how you interact and reflected to others.  Rev. Zach Moffett of FUMC Pulaski is once again our guess with a unique perspective to our True North.

  • Composure for the Win

Do not ever let your lack of composure, aka impulsive emotions, speak for you.  Words and reactions can be sharper than knives causing both temporary and permanent wounds. If deep enough, some wounds do not heal.
Your emotions are the trigger for engaging and controlling your composure. Sometimes your emotions give you bad information. Be smart, STOP think/breathe, seek input, make good decisions - the first time. Your ability to successfully manage your emotions/composure will directly impact your ability to lead people.
