We've long known the joys of coffee. It's the thing we offer when we want to catch up with a friend. It's often one of the first things we reach for to start our day. When we pause to think about it, these cups are a version of ourselves...whether you take yours hot, iced, with milk or foam. And they're also a collection of the places in the world where our beans come from, the people who's hands have crafted this flavor, the people we are gathering with over our cup. Even if that means connecting with ourselves.
Today, we are breaking down what it means to really enjoy, see, and experience a cup of coffee, and how Tenfold is bringing that to Houston. I am so happy to have this incredible cafe in our neighborhood and city. Thank you Jacob for bringing us amazing flavor, community, and the reminder to slow down and show up for the beautiful moments in our day like a great cup of coffee. Let's gather around the table and chat!
Hosting a dinner party can be stressful. Yet gathering around the table over food and drink can be some of those rare special moments of connection with our people. In today's episode, Oliva of La Cura Events breaks down what makes dinner parties so magical. She also shares her own tips on how to turn it from being a hectic night as a host, to joining in the joy around the table.
We are doing a live wine tasting on Baking Bread! Our guest of honor, Jake of the Wine4Wine Instagram account and my brother-in-law, walks us through how to fully be present and experience a beautiful glass. If you're curious what mental health and wellness has to do with a glass of wine, we chat all about that too! If you'd like to join the tasting, we are sharing a bottle of La Rioja Alta Vina Alberdi 2015. Grab your glass, and come chat with us about the act of slowing down and savoring. We can't wait to share this bottle with all of you!
Grab a drink of your choice (I've got my coffee) and join us for a live meditation with fellow Graduate College of Social Work colleague, Clinton! We start out our discussion on gratitude. We are awfully good at focusing on the negatives around us..what didn't go right, what is worrying us, did my words come across ok? But those pockets of good things sprinkled throughout our days? We are sometimes all too quick to move past them.
By actively slowing down, and expressing gratitude for the good things in our life, from relationships to the joys of a cup of coffee, we can feel our mood shift. Research shows that it not only aids in reducing depressive symptoms, but it increases our positive moods as well.
The art of slowing down in our fast-paced world can be hard. Yet, research shows that we are more productive, and feel happier when we do. Join us for our conversation and this meditation, and begin to take action toward gratitude. Sending love and light your way as you do.
Having a healthy life can include many different things. But when we start listing everything from eating plant based to meditating and going to therapy and don’t forget spin, it becomes overwhelming pretty quickly. Where to start? Today, Olivia shares with us about her life. One that is most certainly an example of holistic and healthy living. But perhaps the most powerful piece of our conversation is Olivia sharing her journey. The life she leads today happened through years of getting curious, listening to her body, and exploring what works best for her. In our discussion, Olivia shares specific ways for you to get in touch with what you might be needing, and how you can start making little shifts too.
Victoria is a motherhood photographer, hoster of intentional dinner parties and house guests, and knows a thing or two about meaningful moments in the kitchen. In today's episode, we cover it all! And at the root of what Victoria does, she has the value of meaningful, authentic, and intentional connection as a theme throughout her work and life. Together, we explore how to create these moments of connection, be that with ourselves, our partners in the kitchen, or for a party.
Victoria has long inspired me with her images of home and life on Instagram, and it was such a joy to officially "meet" her! Her words and tips inspired me to pour that glass of wine and gather around the table. Grab your maple latte and join us!
Much has been changing. Our routines, our world, our stress, and chances are our bodies.
But long before 2020 began, how was our relationship with our own bodies? Did we speak to it as a best friend? Did we show ourselves self love? It is a space many of us struggle with. Today, Sarah Herman, a dear friend and creator behind Starving to Strong, engages in conversation. She shares with us her own journey of living with an eating disorder, and continuing to grow in her connection to her body everyday.
Recording this conversation deepened the growth I need to have in my own self love, and gave me tips to start putting into practice. I look forward to sharing these insights with you!
