American producer/DJ Butane is no stranger to the underground dance music scene. He boasts an impressive discography released on some of the most highly regarded labels in the business, from Crosstown Rebels to Get Physical to Dubfire’s Sci+Tec. As a label owner, he’s the founder of three influential underground dance music imprints of his own: Alphahouse, Little Helpers, and his new Extrasketch project. His recent rework of Uone’s ‘Karnival Dreams’, showcased his engineering skills with a remix that was dancefloor-friendly and cerebral at the same time. Ahead of his Australian return to perform at the upcoming Chi Wow Wah Town Festival, the time felt right to get the scene veteran to host a Balance Selections mix.

Joe Miller is an English-born beatmonger, influenced in equal measure by heaving clubs, and the earthy melancholy of forests.

He grew up in Australia, where he learned to craft sets that are whimsical and left-field, evoking a sense of place. In 2013 he delivered us one of the most exquisite mixes you will ever find, a beautiful pastiche of tracks new and old expertly weaved together. Since then Joe has released music on labels ranging from All Day I Dream (alongside Jamie Stevens) to Manual Music and much more. Make sure to watch out for his upcoming release on our own Dawn Till Dusk imprint.

Earlier this year Stereo Underground released his debut album ‘The Art of Silence’, through Balance Music.

It was an 11-track journey exploring ambient, progressive, and deep techno. The album received wide-spread media attention, with the highly regarded Progressive Sounds calling it ‘aural meditation’.

He even broke new ground with his custom-built ‘Space Controller’, a unique MIDI device designed to control every aspect of his live performance. With over 15 years of experience working in event promotions, Nicko is no stranger to the world of electronic dance music. In particular, he has been honing his skills at Barcelona venue LaTerrrazza for the last 13 years, where he has been a DJ resident, and an event manager.

Her famous live session, ‘Bebetta in Bed’, sees her live streaming in her pyjamas from her bed alongside guest acts like Super Flu and Florian Kruse.

DJ, producer, radio broadcaster, label owner, mentor, and mother, Anja Schneider continues to create, reinvent, and reinvigorate. After co-founding, and running Mobilee Records for just over a decade, a new chapter began for the German native when she moved on from Mobilee to start a new label by the name of Sous Music.

Her skills as a talent scout are highly regarded, and in her time at Mobilee she played a pivotal role in nurturing a roster of artists that included Pan-Pot, Sebo K, Rodriguez Jr., and Kevin Over. She is also one of Germany’s most popular radio personalities, and during the years 2000 to 2017, she hosted the weekly show ‘Dance Under The Blue Moon’, Berlin’s longest-running underground dance music radio show on Fritz FM. Since then, she has moved on to one of Berlin’s largest broadcasters, Eins FM, to host a new show every Friday night called the ‘Club Room’.

Anja Schneider is up there as one of the scene’s most decorated artists, and ahead of her first Australian tour in a decade, this Balance Selections mix proves why she is so highly revered…
