  • Quiet Meditation - Sleep Version
Quiet the thoughts in your mind through this guided meditation led by Julie Potiker. She completes the meditation with her poem, "Perseid Star Party".

This version ends with music allowing you to drift off into sleep.

Perseid Star Party, Julian, California, by Julie PotikerAm I in your way?No, it’s straight up in the sky, she said. But my spirit is huge, I say. No worries, the jacketed person replied, folded into her black canvas camping chair,I can see right through it.How did she know my spirit is translucent?Tower of Babel.I hear chips of Chinese, Spanish, Englishseeking the divine throughout space and time.Incredible telescopes - all different -hooked up to gizmos, red light doohickies. A community that does this - monthly or more…Us, first timers fearlessly wading intothe night sky. My down jacket zipped upto the neck, head tipped back in this camping chairto witness meteors streaking through the dark sky.Seeking Awe

  • Compassionate Friend Guided Meditation -Sleep Version
Is there a friend you would like to visit...someone who is now gone? Someone you would like to have a conversation with? Julie Potiker guides you through this journey. She completes the meditation with her poem, "July Morning".This version ends with music allowing you to drift off into sleep.

July morning, by Julie PotikerThere’s a California wild rose bush in bright sun at the edge of the patio in Hailey, Idahowhere I sit in the shade of the house and sip my morning coffee

A silky smooth brown and beige 14 inch garter snake is sunning itself in the moistmulch under the leafy bush. His small beady eye is watching me watch himMorning coffee so different here than Southern CaliforniaThe air is teaming with flying creatures- tiny insects catching the light, and bees asbig as ping pong balls bopping in and out of the grass and shrubs.Only the Western Fly Catcher and Black capped Chickadee are tweeting, that’s another big change -in Cali there’s dozens of species of birds that create the morning symphony. Here, only a few layer their voices to the sound of the river flowing and the gentlebreeze whistling through the green coin leaves of the quacking Aspen trees. This is perfect, I think, different yet perfect, as a plump American Robin drops in tosay good morning, good morning, we do things bigger here in the mountains.

"The Sun", by Mary Oliver.Have you ever seenanythingin your lifemore wonderfulthan the way the sun, every evening, relaxed and easy, floats toward the horizonand into the clouds or the hills,or the rumpled sea,and is gone -and how it slides againout of the blackness, every morning,on the other side of the world, like a red flowerstreaming upward on its heavenly oils, say, on a morning in early summer,at its perfect imperial distance -and have you ever felt for anythingsuch wild love -do you think there is anywhere, in anylanguage,a word billowing enoughfor the pleasurethat it fills you,as the sunreaches out,as it warms youas you stand there,empty-handed -or have you tooturned from this world -or have you toogone crazyfor power, for things?-Mary OliverFind out more about using mindfulness in everyday life through Julie's books, "SNAP: From Calm to Chaos", and "Life Falls Apart, But You Don't have To: Mindful Methods for Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos". • Soft Medicine - Sleep Version
Think of a word or phrase that you find soothing - as you listen to this guided meditation led by Julie Potiker. She completes the meditation with the poem, "Soft Medicine", by James Crews. This meditation ends with music allowing you to drift off into sleep.

Soft Medicine, by James CrewsSoft medicine is what I need today—summer sun filtered by a lemon treeand cedar chips cushioning each stepacross the rocky yard. I need wool socksand a hoodie zipped up to my chinin spite of the heat. I need the reliefof dandelion tea wrapping a gauzeof steam around my hands wrappedaround the warm mug. With each sip,let me find the kind of peace we makeourselves these days—let me see your faceand not look up at the kitchen clock, counting down the minutes and secondswe might have left together.
