What kind of person does God use?  Rich, well-educated, influential?  While there's nothing wrong with these qualities, they don't seem to describe Jesus' mother, Mary.  Something else stands out in her life.  And if this same quality is present in us, God just might use us too!

Not everyone was ready for what God was about to do.  Even some of the most religious and spiritually informed people had doubts God would ever speak to his people again - even when he started clearing his throat!  Meet Zechariah, a priest, and his wife, Elizabeth, as they are served notice that they're going to be part of what God is doing. 

Meet Theophilus.  He's the fellow Luke dedicated his 2-volume work to (think Luke - Acts).  Much of what had happened since Jesus came must've seemed odd - a royal birth with little fanfare, a Jewish messiah that hardly anyone in the know recognized, an unexpected resurrection and hasty return to heaven, and a promised kingdom that failed to appear.  Hmmm.  Luke writes to show his friend that what's happened is actually a precise fulfillment of God's wise Plan.  He could bank on it!  What is ti about the coming and life of Jesus that seems quirky to you?

The transition from one leader to the next can be tricky.  Sooner or later, all groups experience some form of transition.  When Israel transitioned from Moses to Joshua, there were things God wanted them to know and do.  Like what?  Join us as we consider principles of transition.

If you have ever lost a job or broken up with a special friend or even been through a divorce, you'll likely know well the experience of being spurned.  It hurts when we're not taken seriously, cherished or honoured.  What would God say to us who are surrounded by tons of alternatives to believing in and serving him?  What is the deterrent to abandoning God?

Every generation has the opportunity to take advantage of God's generosity.  What are the indicators in our times and our lives that God is making himself and his offer of salvation available to us?  How best for us to express our 'yes' to God?

The Lord began preparing this present since long before creation and it will be our best gift ever and forever.

While this chapter provides us with many blessings God gives and even more curses, questions start to arise fairly quickly.  Is this a prophetic chapter?  Is it written specifically for the Jewish nation at the time of Moses?  How does it apply today?  Does it apply to Christians (or even those who do not follow Jesus Christ?)  Some consider this chapter a pivotal point of Scripture which relates to the entire Bible.  These questions and more will be addressed in this seemingly simplistic chapter of the Bible.
