Bama Wall Hangers - Hunting Podcast

Man we've got a treat for you guys this week on the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast. We've been really trying to stick with deer content throughout the spring, but sometimes a turkey hunting story is so good, you just have to share it wherever it can be told. So we're going to tell you a story of how three southern gentlemen traveled to Montana and killed 6 gobblers in an hour. It got western.

Welcome back to the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast. We've got a heckuva episode for ya'll! KC Smith and Tyler Jones of The Element Podcast & Meateater join us live from the Buck Truck to talk about their new series "The Buck Truck". These fellas just flat know how to have a good time chasing whitetails across the country, and their pretty good deer hunters to boot. We get to chat about some of their strategies for finding whitetails in any given state, but we also get to hear a couple "from the heart" moments from both KC and Tyler about how they are eachother's greatest asset in both hunting and business.

We're huge fans of these guys and everything they're doing at The Element. Ya'll go check them out if you haven't already!

What's up everyone? Welcome to the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast! This week we're really working to get our minds moving more in the direction of whitetails. Spring has sprung, and for most of us the turkey seasons are winding down. What better time to shift focus than right now?!

This week, Parker and Matt are going through some of the perceived failures of the 2022 season. The guys identify the issues they had, and then discussed some of the potential fixes they might be able to put in places for the upcoming season.

We're stoked about this week's episode of the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast because we're joined by one of our Patreon members, Jaybo. Jaybo is a Florida native and just one of the best dudes you'll ever meet. Last Fall, he was able to capitalize on his biggest buck ever, then two hours later on his biggest buck ever... again. Two nice Florida public land bucks in one sit! Here's the deal, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving fella. Jaybo unpacks the days leading up to this hunt. His scouting, setup, and willingness to make a move at the right time all played huge roles in his success.

We spent a lot of time talking about Patreon in this hunt, and the benefits it can have for the members. If you'd like to join the SGH Patreon group, head to this link: https://www.patreon.com/SouthernGroundHunting

A few episodes ago on the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast, we each drafted a team of hunters in a mock "Fantasy Draft". One of Parker's picks was a fella named Brett Mashburn. Brett is joining us this week to talk about his extremely aggressive public land hunting style. Brett puts a ton of emphasis on pre/post season scouting when it comes to finding a buck's bedroom. In this episode, he'll explain his scouting and what he's looking for. While Brett definitely values the scouting, accessing the spot is another area of emphasis. According to Brett, when the homework is done and the access is flawless, his style of hunting has led to more opportunities at mature whitetails and overall more encounters with bucks.

Welcome to the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast! This week we're joined by Walter Lee of the Chasing Tales Outdoor Podcast with not a whole lot of an agenda. The guys talk about the importance of deer camp, hunting fashion, and how to simplify your approach to hunting. We're really all over the board this week but it was a fun convo. Happy Hunting!

This week on Southern Ground Hunting, we're diving deeper into post season scouting/shed hunting with a fella that just flat out knows mature whitetail bucks. David Miller is a return guest, and for good reason. He's consistently finding target bucks that are well above average. We'd hate to be one of his targets, because he's got a pretty solid track record of killing any buck he goes after.

Dave is candid about his approach, telling us all about his post season shed hunting and how it has put him at a huge advantage come fall.

Welcome to the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast. As many of us start transitioning into the true off-season, we find that whitetails are transitioning in their daily habits and routines as well. This week, the guys discuss their thoughts on what deer are doing now as we roll out of winter and into spring. While we may not be able to hunt them right now, it pays off to know what they're doing. This change in pattern is very similar to what we find deer doing during the time of season where it's not quite pre-rut, but it's also not really "early season" anymore.

We've got another killer episode on the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast this week. We're continuing our nameless mini series, highlighting female hunters that we believe should have a voice in this space. This week we're talking to Elizabeth Brownell, who you may know as @rookie_hunting on Instagram and TikTok.

Elizabeth's story has a lot of twists and turns. What started as trying to find a way to be self-sustainable, led her to veganism and gardening, but ultimately ended with her finding a love for the hunting lifestyle and diving in head-first. Her story takes another turn when she found out about public land and began finding success pretty quickly on her own. We enjoyed our conversation with Elizabeth, and while she may consider herself a rookie, her knowledge is abundant.

Welcome to the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast. We're glad you're here! This week we're joined by Olivia Glasgow to talk about her progression of becoming a public land hunter. Unlike literally every man we usually talk to, Olivia has to balance out being a mother and wife with her passion for hunting. For all you guys reading this saying, "well I have to balance being a father and husband..." Shut up. It's not the same and you know it! We've talked to a lot of people over the years, and few have the drive and passion of Olivia. She's a student of the woods, and more than just a pretty face.

In this episode you'll hear Olivia discuss some of the things that have been a challenge for her as a female hunter. Things like finding the right hunting gear, judgement from other men and women for her lifestyle, and the challenge of finding a hunting mentor. Enjoy!
