Hey, you! Are you tired? Are you exhausted? Do you just need a break from all of your responsibilities? Join us as we look at Mark 2:23-3:6 and we see how Jesus Christ is the Lord of Rest. In Him you can have the rest you so desperately need. In this Passage we see how Christ deals with the Pharisees when they attempt to charge the Lawmaker with breaking the law. In this message we see the contrast of the Pharisees and Christ's view of the Sabbath, then we will look at how we should treat the Sabbath today :
I. The Purpose of the Sabbath
A. The Legalist's Position
B. The Lord's Position
II. The Believer and the Sabbath

B. Pointers for Practice

Nahum the Elkoshite, authored a small book in the Old Testament that pronounces an oracle of judgement against the secular city of Ninevah. This message by Pastor Luke Hollis follows closely on the heels of his series on Jonah. In that Book we see that the Assyrians responded positively to Jonah's preaching. In Nahum we see that God is loving and long in mercy, but He is also holy and His wrath towards sin and evil cannot be stayed forever. In Nahum chapter 1 we see this:
1. God is a God of Justice and Wrath
2. God is a God who Avenges the Righteous
3. God is a God who Offers Pardon to the Penitent
To fast or not to fast, that is the question! Well, that is the question that starts off this message by Pastor Luke Hollis. He opens the Word to continue his series on the book of Mark. Specifically we are looking at Mark 2:18-22. The Passage begins with the Pharisees asking Jesus Christ why He and His followers aren't as holy as they are! Then we see Christ's response to their impudence. Finally, we discuss how Jesus explains to the crowd (both Pharisees and publicans) that He is bringing a completely new teaching that will turn their lives and the world upside down. Pastor Luke explains it like this:
I. The fast of the Pharisees
II. The Supper of the Savior
III. The Novelty of the New Covenant

Please take a moment to consider with us the Lord's Table and what that truly represents. In this stirring message from Pastor Luke we open to several passages that discuss our Savior and what he did for us on the Cross. How He suffered and died for us, how He was beaten and bloodied for our sins and how He rose again and conquered death and hell. This message is a great reminder about how we should prepare our hearts to partake in the Lord's Supper.
Have you ever felt like an "odd duck"? In Mark 2:13-17 we see that Christ loves the "odd duck". In fact Christ lived and died for the "odd duck". Pastor Luke walks us through this passage and we see:
I. Jesus Missional Friendship
A. He Calls Sinners
B. He Loves Sinners
C. He Leads Sinners
II. Jesus Missional Motivation
A. The Need of the Sick
B. The Delusion of the "Well"

"Jonah's second prayer". In the final chapter of Jonah we get a look into the prophets heart of hearts. We see how little he cares for the lost people of Ninevah, and in contrast how much he cares for his shade-providing gourd. God uses this as a lesson for both Jonah and for us today. God wants us to care for a lost and dying world, like He does. Pastor Luke will focus specifically on these points:
We also take an overview of our study of Jonah and how we can apply that to our lives today, even right now!

Jonah (4 of 4)
Praise God for second chances! Sometimes we need not just second, but third and fourth, and four hundred and five hundred chances! In this message Pastor Luke walks us through the 3rd chapter of the book of Jonah, where Jonah gets a second chance to do right. We look at each verse one by one and draw multiple applications from this passage. Some of the things we will see in this study:

Jonah (3 of 4)
Bad company corrupts good morals! This a famous saying from Biblical times. In today's message, Pastor Luke walks us through the importance of friends and their influence on you. In Mark chapter 2 verses 1-12 we see an example of some good friends. Pastor Luke goes out of his way to really find some opportunities for alliteration:
1. The Faithful friends
2. The Forgiven Fellow
3. The Furious Pharisees and the Feet Fortified
4. Proof of His Power

Mark Chapter 2
Can anyone love like Jesus? Can YOU love like Jesus? We certainly should be trying our best to display Christ like love to the world! After a review of our study so far in Mark chapter one Pastor Luke dives into the last paragraph of the chapter. Mark 1:40-45 discusses the healing of the leper. We started looking at these verses last week and at that time, focused on the leper, the "Entreaty of the Exile". Today we are focusing on the Healer, the "Sympathy of the Savior".
