Today we have a special treat to kick off February. We are proud and honored to introduce a new host in our podcast and she is Stef! Be it Kendama, Army, or Insurance, she is your badass female Barako and she can probably kick your ass too hehe. Anyways, this was supposed to be just an interview but we're trying to build an empire of inspirational Filipino Ates and Kuyas and Stef definitely fits the description. We hope you learn a lot from her own life experiences as we listen to her story. We look forward to hearing more of her insight from here on out! As always, drink your coffee and get after it!

Ferdi surprised Eman and KD by recording while calling them to wake them up! Which is very apt since the topic for this episode is all about morning routines! Eman shares his feeling of accomplishment whenever he gets up to make his bed, while KD shares her insight from starting her day with yoga and meditation. Ferdi confesses that he doesn't really have a morning routine as he is more of a night owl and tends to be more active at night. In the same way we are all different in how we start and tackle our days so hopefully you all learn from our experiences and discussion in this episode! Welcome to the first official episode of the year and we are now moving from posting Fridays to Mondays from now on! We want to start your week with the latest and greatest coffee shop and coffee related recommendations as we talk about things that interest us! This week we went to Manzanitas Coffee House in Escondido. This is their second location which opened about a month ago. The very spacious interior located where the old Ritz theater is located is very promising and hopefully they will have more fun events and activities going on as time goes on. In this episode we talked a lot about motivation and discipline and starting the new year and trying to set it to a good start by having some resolutions. We agreed that being successful in accomplishing these resolutions will involve developing new habits by staying motivated and disciplined in our endeavors. This is the last episode for season 1 and we went hiking on Iron Mountain while talking about hiking, mountains, and using them as metaphors for life. We hope to bring similar adventures in the future and invite everyone to join us explore the beauty of San Diego

This episode will be the first of many interview we will have as we learn leadership and life experiences of people in San Diego and beyond. We started with someone we already know and got to sit down and share some coffee and good conversation with Ferdi's co-Team Lead at Philz Coffee; none other than Eddie Bernardo! He's first gen Filipino and we wanted to learn how it was like for him to work at Philz, as well as his own personal upbringing as a child of a Filipino immigrant. We'll also learn about his experience living in the Philippines and the irony of getting culture shocked in the land of your own heritage. He will also impart a lot of his own leadership style and motivation and how he relates leadership and life to dancing as well as looking up to his role model, Will Smith!
