What's up to my playful plucky pikas and ardent aardvark enthusiasts!
Welcome back to another riveting episode of the BNP y'all! The devil's ivy in my back room is insinuating itself down the shelf on which it's perched and, across the carpet, my Meowzers is snoozing happily atop her refrigerator box and I am here, right where you want me, delivering that handmade weekly content directly to you, my beloved listeners.
This week's installment of the BNP is Part Four of the series Crafting Sobriety from the Chaos of Alcoholism, where I continue to share the story of my brutalizing addiction to and eventual liberation from the cursed crazymaking bottle.
Interspersed throughout these stories are assorted audio snippets, from foundational childhood experiences to thought provoking conversations overheard at the local laundromat.
Thank you to everyone out there who continues to listen and support the BNP. You are truly appreciated. Thank you for spreading the word and telling a friend about the BNP! Your pod-aganda is working y'all, huzzah!
If you'd like to become the Dorothy to my Toto and support me even more, make sure to rate, review and subscribe to the BNP wherever you listen to podcasts. Make sure the show is set to "Auto Download."
And as always, if you'd like to be the first to know of any hot new off world colonies that need some terraforming, you can join my exclusive Off World Terraformer Volunteer (OWTV) list serve simply by heading over to www.patreon.com/noetics and subscribing to the BNP for as little as $1/month. You receive bonus content, direct access to me and thus influence over the show, first dibs on the Venusian utopian space commune, and an 8,000 gallon seawater aquarium with it's own committed scuba cleaner (His name is Bubs and he's a good dude. Very low maintenance, handy with the steel if ya know what I mean and enjoys chicken parmesan. He may need to be gently reminded to make his bed and do the dishes, but he's as well meaning as they come and always down for a feisty bout of Yahtzee).
Until next time everyone,
Take care of yourselves and each other.
One Love,
Conan

What's up to my talismanic tribal tamarins and familial flocking flamingos!
Welcome back to your wondrous, enthralling and enchanted weekly dose of the BNP y'all.
This episode I decided to take a hiatus from the Sobriety series to feature the brilliant and cogent Sam Proctor, Phx-based holographic artist and ambient electronic music producer.
Sam has an amazing story to tell, and I feel so blessed and grateful to be able to share it with you all.
Sam was conceived via artificial insemination, and for the first 23 years of his life had not known or met his biological Dad. The more I heard about the unlikely and harmonic convolutions of his story, the more compelled I felt to get it out there to the world.
Sam's story of co-discovering his father with his half-sister, and then flying out to San Francisco to meet him in person for the first time is a powerful and remarkable tale, by turns synchronistic, moving, and cathartic.
In these heavy and uncertain times, it's so healing to listen to Sam's authenticity of spirit and excitement at this turn of events. It's a reminder that turns of fate are just as often miraculous and magnificent. Personally I left this conversation feeling inspired and full of hope. Finally, someone who proudly proclaims: I LOVE 2020!!
The darkest hour is just before the dawn, so don't forget to dance beside the bonfire of chaos! The sun will emerge, the clouds will part and the crows will Kaw. Hang in there everyone and know that I am sending out intricate ocelot patterns of positive vibes, always.
Please don't forget to rate, review and subscribe to the BNP if you haven't already. Thank you for spreading the word and telling a friend! Your pod-aganda is working, my audience is growing! Thank you!

What's up to my cacophonous crows and mellifluous magpies!
BNP here, serving up a hot course of that weekly content you know and love. My Meowzers is snuggled up against a lucky bamboo, my mini fountain is gurgling, pressing water past my full moon-charged quartz, citrine, aventurine and tourmaline, and I am perched upon my elliptical, huffing and puffing beside my hanging Pothos plants, scribbling digitally to get this summary out. Scribbles making scribbles making scribbles...
This episode is Part Three of the original BNP Series, Crafting Sobriety from the Chaos of Alcoholism. This installment is a dogged continuation of the personal recounting of my alcohol career, and it takes us up to 2009, a few months before my first rock bottom.
First rock bottom? But surely one of the many totally fucked tales you tell in this episode counts for at least one rock bottom, you ask? Au contraire, beloved ruffians. This week's tales are harrowing, but despite all the mayhem in my rearview mirror, I was still fairly comfortable (at least consciously) within the cozy confines of my addiction.
I would need a total of three rock bottoms before finally wrenching my thirsty Russian-Finnish booze-blood away from the cursed devil sauce once and for all. Part Four, coming soon, will pick up where this episode leaves off, and will chronicle the nitty gritty particulars of those three foundational and nightmarish nights.
Thank you as always for listening and supporting the BNP! As always, feel free to contact me at [email protected] with comments, questions, or if you'd just like to chat. As I said last week and the week before, it's an honor to be there for anyone grappling with addiction of any kind. We have to be there for each other.
Big thank you to all the glorious listeners out there spreading the word about the BNP. Your puppy-pawed propaganda (as well as rating and reviewing) is working and my audience is growing. Thank you!

What's up to my Universalist Umbrellabirds (it's a real thing) and Mirthful Magnanimous Magpies (ka kaawww cawww)!
It's your BNP here, dishin' out that weekly dose of top shelf paradisiacal content, mere days after the Autumnal Equinox and Pagan Sabbat of Mabon. Mabon is a good opportunity to take stock of one's current situation, both individually and collectively. One thing that's indisputable: it hasn't been boring. Regardless, this is an auspicious time to take note of and appreciate the many blessings that sustain you, and to orient yourself towards a healthy, happy and productive Winter. We've done our time in the open air bread oven here in Phoenix, and we are all thirsty af for some temperate breezes and blue skies that won't give you heat stroke. The desert rabbits by the river are all aquiver with the coming bounty of fresh grasses, yummy forbs (what's a forb, you ask? Click here) and nourishing mesquite pods.
And speaking of nourishment (better switch to 4x4 because the segueways are getting Rough) this episode, Part Two of the BNP series Crafting Sobriety from the Chaos of Alcoholism, hopes to provide some food (or healthy drink, like kombucha) for the soul, and particularly aims to deliver some idea vitamins and impetus minerals for those struggling with addiction, particularly addiction to alcohol. The sauce, the bottle, the brain rattler and the fire water. Worthy fuckin' adversary.
I'm joined on this quest by shapeshifter bobcat and friend of the show Marta Orozco, who hops on the pod to finish the conversation we began in Part One.
Marta is a gift of insight, humor and grace, and I am so thankful for her presence on this episode. We cover a lot of ground and manage to touch on a bunch of the relevant topics we aimed to elucidate at the outset. It's my sincerest wish that these episodes resonate with even just one person out there who feels outgunned and overwhelmed by their battle with alcohol.
As always, feel free to contact me at [email protected] with comments, questions, or if you'd just like to chat. It's an honor to be there for anyone grappling with addiction of any kind. We have to be there for each other.
Big thank you to all the glorious listeners out there spreading the word about the BNP. Your beneficent indoctrination (as well as rating and reviewing) is working and my audience is growing. Thank you!

What's up to my Amethystine Cormorants and Silver-scaled Riptide Gliders! (Amethyst is the gemstone of sobriety, for those striving to make contextual motif hay with that imagery. I don't know what a riptide glider is, truth be told. It just sounded right in my domepiece.)
Welcome back Beloved Barbarians to another episode of the BNP! This is an ep I've been wanting to do for a minute and frankly putting off. Not that I didn't want to put it together, I think I have just been subconsciously afraid to. Afraid no more! Not only is it done, it is in fact only Part One.
This will have to be a 2 part series in order to give the topic the attention and thoughtfulness it deserves. Some kinds of reflection require the petal unfurling and stem elongations of time so as not be picked too soon, like still-green bananas in the verdant jungle of the mind. But Lo! The soursop is ready, guv'ner! Yet the bananas require a few more days, and forget about the breadfruit just yet. The lilikoi are going off tho.
So. What topic is this that requires such mulling over? It's a big one: alcoholism and sobriety. To be more specific, the horrors of alcoholism and the Octagon style daily brawl within the self that's required of sustained sobriety from the cursed fire water. Wretched Imp of the underground libidinous nether land. Yar, tis' a worthy foe, my friends. Tis a worthy foe indeed.
Big heartfelt thank you to friend of the show Marta Orozco for calling in and helping me with this admittedly daunting task. Part 1 of this alcohol sobriety series ends with Part 1 of a chat with Marta, a dear friend who walks the same path of sobriety, and who has her own lingering scars from getting lost in the kaleidoscopic shards of the bottle.
Big heartfelt thank you's to you all for listening and supporting the pod. Big ups and deep mahalo nui to my Patreon patrons. I couldn't do this without you. If you would like to be another rock pillar to the BNP, you may achieve this noble aim by navigating your browser to www.patreon.com/noetics.

What's up to my telegenic trouble makers and bright billowy bliss cats!
Welcome back one and all to the BNP, delivering that cream of the crop content come rain, snow, sleet... or smoke. The desert sun this September Saturday is a liminal copper coin in the hazy smoky sky. I spritz the tropical plants in my apt and send wishes of rain to the West Coast. What is there to do but move forward with our projects, persist in pursuing our passions, and persevering in following the promise of our dreams.
It's in this vein of celebrating the stubborn resiliency and determination of the human spirit, and to pay homage to the eminently possible, that we examine this week a topic that's timely, crucial, and often disingenuously disparaged by mandarins of the state: Anarchism.
Contrary to what old Uncle Sniffs Joe says, anarchy cannot be arrested and incarcerated. We know how much you love incarcerating stuff Uncle Sniffs, but you can't arrest a concept. Nor should you try. There is nothing chaotic, violent or antisocial about the philosophical tendencies of Anarchism.
This episode is an attempt to demystify this idea of Anarchy, anarchists and anarchism (oh my), and push back on the narrative that paints anarchists as loose fuses, hot wires and hostile enemies of the state.
I'd even venture to say: it is the state that vilifies so-called anarchists that is the antisocial element in the equation. A just state would recognize the value and critical importance of anarchistic behavior in our day to day means of social reproduction within the greater society, and afford the concept its just respect and contemplation.
This episode is also in honor of the late author and anarchist activist David Graeber, who wrote Bullshit Jobs and Debt: The First 5,000 Years. David Graeber passed away on September 2nd in Venice, Italy. Rest in Power comrade.
Finally, we place the proverbial cherry on top of this fair ep with a call from my dear friend and soul sister Karma Chick, who checks in from Texas. She had to run to a wedding, so the 2nd part of our conversation will be coming soon.
Thank you to my beloved listeners and generous patrons. I couldn't do this without you.

What's up to my moon-kissed mellifluous humanists and earth-eyed ocelot idealists! Meow. Mew. Mmrrrow.
Welcome back to the BNP y'all! Conan here, comin' in hot with some minty fresh BNP content. And, I'm also quite hot. Like, from a temperature perspective. Sweating balls really. But I digress.
This episode is an exploration of the 20th century grassroots Latin American political and spiritual movement known as Liberation Theology.
Liberation Theology emerged as an improbable outgrowth out of the oppressive and abusive forced colonialist conversion of Indigenous Peoples, particularly those in Latin America, to monarchical European Christianity.
Writings and teachings of Liberation Theology weave genuine respect and admiration for the humility and character of the poor with direct political activism that strives to liberate intentionally marginalized Peoples from the grinding poverty foisted on them by European settlers.
My wish is that this episode informs listeners (at least a little) and inspires those who may be interested to dive deeper into the teachings and writings of Liberation Theology. Citation of sources is below.
Thank you as always for supporting and listening to the BNP. Big heartfelt hugs of gratitude to my generous patrons. You too can become a patron at www.patreon.com/noetics.

What's up to my pecan munching pelicans and vociferously veritable victorious vibe squad!
This week we welcome back to the BNP the God-King himself, Jonathan Glowacki. Jonathan is the founder of Portland Peppermills and purveyor of provocative thought-provoking ponderances and pithy pontification. Ok I'm done with the P alliteration now, I promise (Ha get it- Promise with a P).
Join in for relaxed and raucous romp (can't help myself, my bad) through these past few months of personal transformation and societal upheaval. Come for Jonathan's enthusiasm and insight about the ancient art of adobe, and stay for a discussion of some amazingly rad socially conservative parables. Spoiler alert- they're BONKERS.
Thank you all as always for listening and supporting the show. Keep spreading the word: the BNP is growing, your propaganda is working! Don't forget to please rate 5 stars if you haven't done so already. It's a huge help and an easy way to provide real material support for the project without spending a dime.

What's up to my salubrious space racers and mercurial Motor City mastodons! (That's gotta be a Roller Derby team btw)
It's October 14, 1962 in Suburban Detroit. John Glenn has just months earlier become the first American to orbit the Earth. John F. Kennedy in May has asked Congress for $531 million dollars (equivalent to $4.6 billion today) to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. The first Walmart discount store is opened up in Bentonville, Arkansas. Andy Warhol paints a can of Campbell Soup. And, an American U-2 Spy Plane doing reconnaissance over Cuba captures photographic proof of the Soviets installing nuclear missile bases on the island nation, just 90 miles off the coast of Florida.
Unbeknownst to the American public, including my Mom, who was celebrating her 13th birthday that day, the Cuban Missile Crisis has begun.
Last episode we examined the Cuban Missile Crisis from a geopolitical and logistical perspective. This episode we look at the events from a personal, emotional and psychological perspective.
To achieve this mighty feat of righteous nostalgia we turn to my wonderful Mom, who was kind enough to join the pod and take a trip down memory lane, helping us to re-live those tense days in middle October 1962.
This is a fun one folks! Jump in, do the Mashed Potato, or the Twist, or the Watusi, and enjoy this diner-lit, drive-in episode of a remarkable chapter from a bygone era.
Big Thank You to Mama Tanner for guiding us on this journey!
Spread the word and tell a friend! My audience is growing, your propaganda is working! Thank you!! Please continue to bestow those ineffably gorgeous 5 stars!! What's up to my nuclear non-proliferation posse and the diplomatic love bomb squad!
Its the Cuban Missile Crisis ep y'alll! This episode is Part 5 of the BNP Original Series, Revisiting Fidel and the Cuban Revolution, covering 13 days of global pins and needles intensity from the 16th to the 28th of October 1962, where the world's two superpowers came within a hair's breath of cataclysmic nuclear war.
At the peak point in this crisis, millions of lives, untold ecological devastation and the very balance of world affairs sat perched on the shoulders of a single Soviet Submarine officer, who was the lone dissenter on his crew, preventing the unanimous officer approval required for use of a nuclear torpedo off the coast of Cuba.
In 1962, there was no easy or even feasible way for a submerged Soviet submarine to maintain communications with the Kremlin thousands of miles away. Thus, the decision of whether or not to use force as a response to an American blockade of Cuban bound ships fell to the consciences of three solitary men.
Jump in and enjoy the ride, and thank the angels that prevented this particular nuclear standoff from popping off.
Please spread the word and tell a friend about the BNP! Don't forget to rate, review, subscribe and bestow those 5 charmed stars... your support means the world.
