Here’s how it goes;
Every second week on Barnraisers we release an episode that features a conversation with a special guest. Every other week we do a Team Huddle with just you and I. Sound simple enough? Awesome!
So what is the Team Huddle all about?
Well, it's a shorter Barnraisers episode, made up of 3 segments:
At the start the show with a quick Q&A SESSION. It’s a time for follow up and give you a chance to hear answers to listener questions about the show and the topics we have discussed in previous weeks.
Segment 2 is BEYOND THE SPOTLIGHT.
This involves me expanding on a particular aspect of strategic team development. This week for instance, we're going to explore "performance reviews". More specifically, we're going to take a look at how spending time with last week's guest Adam Hembree and doing a little more resarch on Imrpov might have help us crack the code wen it comes to delivering feedback that is actionable, timely and helpful for the person hearing it!  
Finally, team huddle finishes with NOTES FROM THE FIELD. I’m really excited about this section, because it represents your chance to participate directly in the show and share your stories with all the other Barnraisers out there. That’s right, I want this section to become a showcase for power of collaboration, a celebration of the skill of working together and I want to give everyone a chance to share with the world, just how great the people, teams and businesses you work with (and for) really are. Ultimate team players aren't limited to Olympic stadiums, Formula 1 tracks or blockbuster move lots. They can be found everywhere; and each story is just as compelling, instructional and inspirational as the next.
The more we hear them, the more we celebrate them, the more powerful our "team first" movement will become.

This involves me expanding on a particular aspect of strategic team development. This week for instance, we're going to explore "performance reviews". Adam Hembree - Actor, Producer and Co-founder of the Improv Troupe SOOTHPLAYERS.

Adam Hembree has been collaborating with others onstage in some form or fashion since he was 13. Back then, his big break came when he tackled the venerable role of 'Orphan' in a smash hit high school production of Oliver.
Since 2008 though, Adam has been performing and studying Shakespeare.
While he’s on the clock, Adam is busy pursuing a Ph.D. in English and Theatre Studies at the University of Melbourne.
When he’s off the clock, he performs in Shakespeare's language with Soothplayers, the totally improvised Shakespeare troupe he cofounded with creative partner Ryan Patterson in 2015.
I came across Soothplayers and Adam when I attended another of the troupes productions at the 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The show was called Completely Improvised Potter. It was unbelievably entertaining as I watched the team put together an entire Harry Potter movie on the fly! All they had to begin with was a random title submitted by an audience member and plucked out of a Goblet of Fire.
As enjoyable as the night was, what really struck me was the way the team worked together. It was a masterclass that showcased skills that any cohesive team would love to possess. Listening, vulnerability, feedback, asking questions and honouring someone else's contribution…it was all on show and I was in heaven!

Fran Strine - Filmmaker & Director of the Award-winning Documentary HIRED GUN

 
Fran Strine first picked up a camera 25 years ago, and hasn’t put one down since.
He started out as a freelance photographer for Metal Edge Magazine in 1989 where he developed his unique style and eye for capturing live performances and intimate recording sessions. Over the years, Fran has worked and toured with many bands including; Staind, Nickelback, Shinedown and Seether.
Fran is also a filmmaker - he he has directed and produced two live DVDs for country music legend Dolly Parton, and recently shot the promotional material for her current Pure and Simple tour.
At the time of this recording, Fran and his team are busy gearing up for the first theatrical release of his documentary film Hired Gun.
In Fran's own words, Hired Gun is about the musicians whose DNA is all over the music and tours we love, without us knowing their faces or names. 
It's a music documentary with passion and talent at it's core, digging deep and ripping the curtain off the rails to expose what it really takes (and what it's like) to tour and record with the legends.
So who exactly are these "hired guns"?
Well, we're talking about some of the best musicians in the world, including;

Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel)
Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp)

There can be no question that the title of "Ultimate Team Player" fits perfectly for Annie La Fleur - and I know that after listening to this podcast you’re going to reach the same conclusion.
For those of you that aren’t aware of Annie’s story, here is a little background.
Annie, along with her Opal’s teammates, were responsible for launching Australian womens basketball onto the international stage. As part of the Australian national team, Annie went to multiple world championships and was member of the silver medal winning team at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
It was an honour and a privilege to talk with Annie, and not just about her time with the Opals. Annie enjoyed amazing success throughout her distinguished career.
It is mind boggling to think about all of the various teams that were lucky enough to have Annie on their roster. She lived in the USA playing in the WNBA and also spent time playing in France and in Australia’s domestic league.
In this conversation you are going to hear all about Annie’s experiences, insights and thoughts on each of these teams. There’s a reason why some worked and why others didn’t. Not only does Annie share these reasons with us, but she also explains how she had to adjust and adapt to the various roles and players that she came across during her playing days.
I think it is an amazing story and the perfect way to start the Barnraisers podcast.
