The Rays are off today, April 9th. It’s the 3rd time this season Tampa Bay has been off since the season opener and the second Thursday off-day of the schedule. Last year, between games one and 162, the Rays had 23 days off, which includes days off during the All-star break.

Tampa Bay hosts New York, a division rival, for the next three games before the fourth off day of the season. The Rays then travel on the road for six games, starting with three on the south side of Chicago against the White Sox. They’ll host the Chi-Sox in July and August. The next three games following that will be in Pittsburgh, which will be the only three against the Pirates this season. The Rays then return home to host the Reds for the only three games with Cincinnati on the 2026 schedule.

The Rays (5-6) lost 9-2 on Tuesday, April 7th to the Cubs in home game number two of the 2026 season. Tampa Bay is once again in a tie for second place in the American League East division and can keep that ranking by getting to an even win-loss record at home tonight.

First pitch in game three of the home schedule is set for 6:40 P-M at Tropicana Field on April 8th, 2026.

The Rays (5-5) won for the first time in St. Petersburg since September of 2024, after playing all home games in 2025 at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The hurricane damaged roof and field have been repaired and the home team defended the turf well, beating the Cubs 6-4 in front of a sellout crowd.

The Rays (4-5) beat the Twins in extra innings on Easter Sunday thanks to a good pitching performance by starter Nick Martinez and the thankfully unusually dependent bullpen of former Minnesota pitcher Griffin Jax, Bryan Baker, and Kevin Kelly.

The Rays (3-5) bounced back Saturday with a 7-1 win in Minnesota after dropping the series opener on Friday. Tampa Bay is out of the American League cellar and Boston is on the bottom of the East division on its’ own.

Former Rays player Tristan Gray hit his first career home run for a team other than Tampa Bay and it was a grand slam! Kevin Kelly allowed his first runs of the season and took his first loss in relief.

Tampa Bay travels to face Minnesota for the next three games and then begins the first homestand of the 2026 season against the Chicago Cubs on Monday, April 6th. It will be the first home game for the Rays at Tropicana Field since the 2024 season after a year away because of hurricane damage that brought Tampa Bay to Steinbrenner Field for the 2025 home schedule.

The Rays (2-3) fall to the Brewers 6-2, and now Tampa Bay enters April with a losing record, but is not last place in the American League East. That dubious honor belongs to Boston.

The Rays (2-2) get to even on the season with a 3-2 win over the Brewers and now Tampa Bay is no longer in last place in the American League East.
