This time, we’re talking about an episode that might actually be the best in the series? It’s tough to call it this early, but 33 is pretty damn good.
This time on BSG, the Colonial Fleet fights off human extinction every. 33. minutes. Which leads to the sleep deprivation and tension you’d expect.
In our analysis, Matt marvels at creations thinking about their creators’ creators and compares different kinds of strength.
Pat gets miffed about faith potentially determining outcomes, but goes deep on four scenes that got him excited.
Mike talks about how every ship needs a hard-ass and lays out why the Olympic Carrier dilemma was too easy.

Here’s a little bit about the Lords of Kobol. I’m not straying too far from this Wikipedia page, because I don’t want spoilers. Apparently there’s not much out there anyways?

It’s our debut episode! In this opener:
We skip introducing ourselves, because context is for the weak. (Although actually, you can read a bit about us here and here.)
We discuss the miniseries that launched modern Galactica, as well as some context of what was happening at the time.
Pat goes to bat early for his favorite schoolteacher.
Mike ironically fails to understand human emotions.
Matt delights at Gaius Baltar’s Road Runner-like ability to avoid danger.
Some observations and links of note:
The miniseries aired on SCI-FI in December 2003, meaning its 15th anniversary is coming right up. The edited version that Mike saw aired on NBC in 2005. So Mike was probs around 17 when he first watched the miniseries.
The Battlestar Galactica boardgame really is excellent and we’ll likely reference it a lot. Here’s a link to check it out on Board Game Geek. It deserves a higher rating than 7.8.
We’ve mostly fixed Matt’s audio issues in future episodes. Which is either good or bad, depending on your perspective.
