Recent analysis of US census data reveals that there's been an almost 40% jump in the number of people leaving California for the Lone Star state, with nearly 300 people a day making the exodus in 2021. UPS workers inch closer to a potential strike after contract  negotiations broke town yesterday between the company and International Brotherhood of Teamsters. For more on this, Eric Thomas spoke with CBS News Correspondent Jim Krasula. The American Medical Association recently adopted a new policy to clarify The use of ‘body mass index’ or ‘BMI’ as a measure in medicine. At the start of every summer, the American Red Cross Bay Area takes time to recognize the work of all of its local volunteers, especially the most dedicated ones. 

Fire crews have prompted evacuation in Napa this afternoon. It was a busy night for Contra Costa firefighters who responded to more than 80 fires.

A new reporting year has just begun and the California horse racing industry is already reporting the deaths of three more racehorses.

Its easy to list the potential negative impacts of A-I like job loss, safety and trust.. Then there are the merits of AI like the contributions in the science community. This week a study by researchers at New York University, Columbia Engineering, and the New York Genome Center, reveals the potential for machine learning and deep learning used together to determine promising drug candidates for diseases and developing new methods to prevent or treat viral infections. For more about this study, Pat Thurston and Brett Burkhart spoke with Dr. David Knowles, Assistant Professor at Columbia University and the New York Genome Center.
