California is getting closer and closed to requiring tech giants to pay news outlets for using their content on their platforms, but the deadline to get the bill past the full Assembly is only a month away as the clock ticks down. Following a recent string of stabbings in Davis, UC Davis is holding night classes online to keep students safe and ease their panic. Police say they are not looking at this as a serial killer case, and that it is possible these were all three separate crimes. Matt Bigler updates us on the East Bay nursing strike, where health care workers in Concord demand change. Kris Ankarlo shares how lawyer are concerned with the way Bob Lee's autopsy information was released, as timing may alter the way the case is approached. Mike Dewald explains how current wet weather is not getting in the way of fire officials trying to plan for what might be an upcoming fire season. Despite this wet weather, Trinity Lake is nowhere near its maximum capacity levels, and Megan Goldsby tells us how this is different from what other California lakes are seeing. KCBS Radio's David Welch is live outside Chase Center, where it's rainy but the fans are still excited. There’s been another delay in the arraignment of the man accused of killing tech executive Bob Lee. Retailer Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack will say goodbye to downtown San Francisco. A bill that would require education about the risks of opioids and fentanyl in schools is moving through the state legislature. 

Menopause can impact the quality of life for millions of women and a first-of-its-kind study conducted by the Mayo Clinic shows, it's also impacting the money many women are taking home. The study shows that nearly $2 billion dollars of work time is lost nationally due to menopause symptoms. For more, Brett Burkhart and Patti Reising spoke with Dr. Juliana Kling, Chair of the Mayo Clinic Women's Health Center in Arizona, and co-author of the study.

Today's local stories include outrage in San Francisco, as DA Jenkins decides not to prosecute a security guard who shot and killed a trans man attempting to shoplift. Over to San Jose now, where the city’s mayor has indicated he would also welcome stepped up state support in fighting the city’s own fentanyl crisis. Meanwhile, Elk Grove is the latest California city to face a lawsuit from the state of California over the denial of an affordable housing project.

This morning, Jennifer Hodges walks us through what's happening. San Francisco has laid out its strategy to reduce fentanyl trafficking. Last year, the owners of the Lehigh Hanson Cement Plant announced they would be keeping it shut down for good. The California Air Resources Board this week unanimously approved the world’s first standard to require large truck fleets to transition away from fossil-fueled commercial trucks to zero-emission vehicles. 

According to a new survey, a growing number of employers are actively seeking job-candidates who have "ChatGPT experience." For more, Jennifer Hodges spoke with Julie Bauke, Chief Career strategist with the Bauke Group.

That includes Yosemite National Park, which has announced parts of the park will not be open to visitors until at least May 3rd, putting a little bit of a damper on what's expected to be a sunny weekend.
