  • Scattered, not Shattered

Whenever you're learning something new or trying to complete a project, there's a phase after "initial optimism" called "the valley of despair" - it's where we want to quit and say mean things about whoever convinced us to try this new thing in the first place. In my opinion, the early Jesus movement should've been in THAT place in Acts 8, but it wasn't; in fact, it was spreading more rapidly than ever. But how? And why? Join me this Sunday as we explore what motivated their unique approach to handling adversity.

  • Vision Part 2

Last week, we cast a vision for the year ahead: to become Good News people who show and share the Gospel where we live, work, learn, and play. We ended with a simple question: Will you join us on this journey. This week, we'll discover a beautiful picture the Bible uses to describe those who answer that call. Interestingly, the part of the messenger that is called beautiful is not what we would normally expect—it's our feet!

As the prophet Isaiah wrote: "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!" —Isaiah 52:7

We have beautiful feet, not because they are literally perfect, but because of the message they carry. Our feet are made beautiful by our purpose: to be a walking, talking display of the Good News. This Sunday, join us as we begin to see ourselves as Good News people, with beautiful feet, prepared to step into the world with the most important message ever told.

  • Religious Elites

there are plenty of famous rivalries around us: Red Sox/Yankees, Mac/PC, Republican/Democrat - we've seen the good and bad of those play out many times. But what about Jesus? Who was his rival, and how did he treat them? This Sunday we'll explore his relationship with the Religious Elites of his day and see how what he believed and how he behaved could change our perspective. See you Sunday!

  • Out of Darkness: Jesus Descends

I am so excited about this Sunday as we begin our Easter series: Out of Darkness. Darkness in the Bible refers to living apart from God. It is a symbol for spiritual blindness and hopelessness. In contrast, light refers to the presence of God. It symbolizes His holiness and our fellowship with Him. Because of sin, we are born into spiritual darkness. Yet Luke 1:78-79 says, “Because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high will visit us, to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Jesus is the Sunrise that shines into our darkness. Join us this Sunday at 9 and 11 a.m. – and invite a friend - as we explore why Jesus descended into the darkness for us.

  • Ministry Origins: Prologue

There are two kinds of people in the world - those that read the author's introduction carefully, and those that skip to the last chapter to know how the story ends! This week, we're gonna be the former: we're going to set the scene for our exploration of Luke's authorized biography of Jesus of Nazareth and find out how important it is for us to know what Jesus is like if intend to be like Him!

  • Unstoppable Impact: Why Following Jesus Brings Pushback

We love our comforts. And there is nothing wrong with wanting a reliable car, a working air conditioner, a secure home, or a peaceful evening after a long week. We’ve all worked hard to build lives of safety and convenience, and those things feel good. We want a life free of friction and hassle. But if we're honest, we often let the pursuit of comfort become the main goal of our lives. We want the American dream, and we want to follow Jesus, hoping the two paths never collide.

Yet when we look at the life of Jesus and the early church, we discover a sobering truth: following Christ was never meant to be a frictionless, risk-free ride.

This Sunday, we are tackling a hard question: If we never experience any pushback for speaking the name of Jesus, is it because we’ve blended in? Join us as we look at the story of Stephen from Acts 6-7 and discover why living for Jesus brings pushback, and why a sovereign God uses that very friction to push His Gospel forward.

  • The Name We Cannot Keep to Ourselves

This Sunday we look at a passage that has been one of the most inspirational biblical stories in helping me become a Good News person. All of us struggle with saying the "J” word. It's much easier to talk about church or spirituality, but dropping the "J" bomb takes true boldness. We see that undeniable courage in the lives of Peter and John as they stand fearlessly before the highest power structures of Israel—the very men who condemned Jesus and held the authority to condemn them.

If you are someone who wants to be a verbal witness yet wrestles with speaking about Jesus, this message is for you! You will be inspired and empowered to move beyond just praying and caring, to truly sharing. Join us this Sunday at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. as we discover what it looks like to live a life that simply cannot stop speaking about Jesus!
