As we continue our series in Luke 16:19-31, Jesus takes up the question: Where do we go when we die? Every other question in life dwindles in comparison to this one. In 2002, Justin Timberlake was approached by some IRS agents claiming he owed over $900k in back taxes. As they confiscated his personal belongings, Justin crumbled in shock. What Justin didn’t know was this was a prank by Ashton Kutcher and his TV show Punk’d. This show went to great lengths to target and convince unsuspecting celebrities that what they were experiencing was real. But the truth was it wasn’t reality. Something completely different was happening. Every day, you and I get "Punk’d" by the world. We are led to believe this life is what it’s all about, when in reality, there is a completely different spiritual narrative unfolding. And this spiritual reality is what Jesus taught about most. Join us as we see how Jesus changed our understanding of reality in Matthew 13:31-33, 44.

How is your prayer life? Prayer is important, right? Yet, most of us struggle. We lack motivation for prayer and often don’t know what to pray. Enter Jesus. He changes everything, including how we pray. Join us as we look at Matthew 9:35-38 and together take the next step in our prayer lives.

What if halfway through the Super Bowl, the referees changed the rules to the biggest sporting event in the country? Or what if they didn’t just change them, but they expanded on them to the point that neither the Chiefs nor the 49ers could possibly uphold all of them? That’s basically what Jesus did to His followers when He presented the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:3-16. He expanded the rules to the point that it became impossible that anyone could uphold them all. That’s exactly the way Jesus wanted it to be. Join us to find out why.

Just over a week ago, two more grandchildren were born into the St. Cyr clan. Enjoying them through FaceTime, I was reminded of how absolutely dependent they are. Though raised to be independent, in reality all of us depend on other people or things. In John 5, a man who had been sick for 38 years was depending on the pool of Bethesda to heal him. Enter Jesus and everything changes. Join us to learn how Jesus models a life of dependence that causes others to marvel.

Rejection hurts. Exclusion is painful. Sometimes we find ourselves on the outside because of choices we’ve made. Other times it’s because of racial, religious, political or socioeconomic reasons. Enter Jesus, full of grace and truth. His message in Matthew 9:9-13 is radical: “Everyone welcome!” No matter our backgrounds, no matter how badly we or others have messed up, Jesus has a message that changes everything.

Just when you think you’ve got life all figured out, Jesus comes along and messes with all of it. In a shocking exchange with a Samaritan woman in John 4:1-42, we see Jesus unpacking some deep spiritual truths while calling her to a real walk with God. In the process, He will go on to blow the minds of His disciples, teaching them that even their cultural enemies are just a faith step away from the Kingdom of heaven.

One night, a long time ago, Jesus had a conversation with a man who was very spiritual and very religious. John decided to put that conversation in his Gospel, and since then it has become perhaps the most famous chit chat of all time. Nicodemus found out that all of the things he had been building his life upon would be swept away in only one sentence from Jesus. And as we are going to find out in John 3:1-15 – religious people and spiritual people need Jesus.
