  • Donald Trump's sweeping global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court | BBC News
Last year, US President Donald Trump placed taxes on goods imported into the country, saying it would boost American manufacturing.
But instead of getting Congressional approval, the Trump administration used emergency law, allowing them to issue immediate orders and bypass Congress.
In August 2025, a US appeals court ruled that most of Trump's tariffs were illegal, but left them in place.
Now, the US Supreme Court has ruled that Trump exceeded his authority in imposing sweeping tariffs through a law reserved for a national emergency.

  • British couple held in Iran sentenced to 10 years | BBC News
A British couple, who were detained by Iran, have been sentenced to 10 years for espionage.
Lindsey Foreman told the BBC it was hard to remain positive in prison, hours before she and her husband Craig were arrested while passing through Iran on a round-the-world motorcycle trip in January 2025.
In a rare telephone interview from Tehran's notorious Evin prison, Lindsay likened their detainment to "an endurance test for the mind" and said being in jail had taken a physical toll on her.
While the couple - who deny the accusation against them - has not spoken since the sentencing, their son described the decision as "gut-wrenching".

  • How did the manosphere lead to Clavicular? | The Global Story Podcast
A controversial internet streamer who goes by the name Clavicular has taken the internet by storm, going to extreme lengths to try to enhance his looks – from using steroids and testosterone to hitting his face with a hammer.

  • Sudan atrocities 'hallmarks of genocide', UN says | BBC News
A UN fact-finding mission has determined that evidence of atrocities carried out during the siege and takeover of the Sudanese city of el-Fasher points to genocide.
The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) captured el-Fasher, located in the western region of Darfur, at the end of October after an 18-month blockade.
It was one of the most brutal chapters in Sudan's nearly three-year civil war and triggered widespread international outrage.
This is the closest the UN has come to declaring that genocide is being carried out by RSF fighters in Darfur during the current conflict.
The RSF has not commented on the report but has denied previous such accusations.
