  • What would Robert Jenrick really do if he was the Chancellor? | BBC Newscast
Today, Robert Jenrick used his first speech as Reform’s pick for chancellor to try to convince businesses and economists that he would be sensible with their money.
He said it would reintroduce the two-child benefit cap in full, in a shift away from scrapping the limit.
He also said the party plans to keep UK's budget watchdog The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR). So we thought it would be a good time to explore exactly what Reform’s plan for the economy was, and ask is it really that radical?

  • Uefa launches investigation into Vinicius Jr racism claims | BBC News
Benfica have claimed there is a "defamation campaign" against Gianluca Prestianni after Uefa launched an investigation into claims he racially abused Real Madrid footballer Vinicius Jr.
Tuesday's Champions League match at Benfica was halted for 10 minutes after Vinicius reported alleged racist abuse to referee Francois Letexier and he and his team-mates left the field.
Brazil international Vinicius, who has been a victim of numerous incidents of racist abuse during his playing career, later said in a post on Instagram: "Racists are, above all, cowards."
Prestianni, who could face a minimum 10-match ban from European competition if found guilty, denied directing racial abuse at Vinicius.

  • Police assessing Stansted Airport private flights over Jeffrey Epstein ties | BBC News
Essex Police has said it is assessing information about private flights into and out of Stansted Airport following the publication of the Epstein files.
The BBC understands that while the police is "assessing" the information, it would not necessarily lead to a full investigation.
Last year a BBC investigation found 87 flights linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein had arrived at or departed from UK airports between the early 1990s and 2018.
Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown wrote in the New Statesman last week that police "urgently" need to re-examine whether Epstein's victims were trafficked within and outside of the UK.

  • Unanswered Andrew questions over Epstein links | BBC News
Since the US Department of Justice released a vast tranche of files about the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, there have been a series of new allegations about the extent of the relationship between the billionaire financier and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
And questions have also been mounting over the way Buckingham Palace has responded to the various accusations against the King's brother.
Being named in the Epstein files is not an indication of misconduct. Andrew has previously strongly denied any wrongdoing in his associations with Epstein.
