  • US inflation rises as tariffs push up prices | BBC News
US inflation jumped last month as President Donald Trump's tariffs took hold, pushing up prices for items from clothing to coffee.

But the data also suggested that consumers are starting to feel the impact of tariffs, as some firms begin to pass along the costs of Trump's new taxes on imports.

  • At least 20 dead in latest Israeli strikes, say medics in Gaza | BBC News
Hospitals in Gaza say at least 20 people have been killed after Israel continued to bombard the territory on Monday.
Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry says the number of people killed since the start of the war in October 2023 passed 58,000 over the weekend. That followed a string of attacks including one that killed six children at a water distribution point on Sunday.
The Israeli military confirmed it was a result of a "technical error" when the munition fell dozens of metres from the target. The Israel Defense Forces added it "regrets any harm to uninvolved civilians".
Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to Hamas's cross-border attack on 7 October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

  • What Went Wrong With The BBC Gaza Documentary? | BBC Newscast
Today, we discuss the findings of a BBC report which found that the documentary Gaza: How To Survive a Warzone had breached editorial guidelines.
The BBC previously pulled the documentary from iPlayer after it was uncovered that the 13-year-old narrator was the son of a Hamas official. The report says the production company Hoyo Films bears most of the responsibility for the failures. Hoyo Films said it took the reviews findings "extremely seriously" and said it "apologises for the mistake that resulted in a breach of the editorial guidelines".
Another report looking into BBC show MasterChef has found that 45 allegations against presenter Gregg Wallace have been upheld. Wallace said in response that some of his humour and language "missed the mark", but added: "I never set out to harm or humiliate. I always tried to bring warmth and support to MasterChef, on screen and off." Adam Fleming is joined by BBC News Culture and Media editor Katie Razzall and Culture reporter Noor Nanji.
And, American President, Donald Trump has threatened “very severe” tariffs against Russia if there is no Ukraine deal within 50 days. Adam speaks to Caitriona Perry, Chief Presenter for BBC News.

  • Former Israel PM says planned ‘humanitarian city’ in Gaza would be a ‘concentration camp’ | BBC News
The former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, has warned that the planned ‘humanitarian city’ in Gaza ordered by Defense Minister Israel Katz, would be a ‘concentration camp’.
Last week, Katz told journalists he wanted to establish a "humanitarian city" on the ruins of the city of Rafah to initially house about 600,000 Palestinians - and eventually the whole 2.1 million population.
In a video message released last night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected growing calls from people in Israel to end the war in Gaza.
This has been widely criticised, with one Israeli human rights lawyer condemned it as nothing less than an "operational plan for a crime against humanity".
The Gaza Health Ministry (GHM) has said the death toll in Gaza is now past 58k, as Isreal continues to strike Gaza.
The GHM said it recorded a 139 deaths on Sunday, among them a group of children who were waiting for water in central Gaza.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was aware of the "claim regarding casualties in the area as a result", adding that it works to mitigate civilian harm "as much as possible" and "regrets any harm to uninvolved civilians".
