In this episode, I explain to you how to get more audience engagement from your guest interviews. Transform your guest interviews into a real audience growth machine for free by using the advice from this episode. I have seen a lot of guest interviews from podcasters that have not gotten engagement. In this episode I address that and suggest the solution. You may have a famous guest or a not-so-famous guest, but I have found ways to make both the podcaster and the guest more famous and get more audience engagement for every one of your guest interviews.
On this episode, I talk with the entrepreneurs Jeff and Jim Wood who have built an amazing business called SwimAble, which helps child and adults learn to swim in a more fun environment than swimming lessons. Quoted from their website, SwimAble offers these benefits to clients:
One of the most important things to note here: the Wood brothers empower clients to learn to swim faster via their service Swim Discovery™ which offers a more personalized experience not only for child ages 2 years old and up, but also for adults who never learned to swim because of the rigid structural method used by traditional swim instructors.
I won't say much more, because they will talk about their service. On this episode, I also share my own frustrations of learning to swim when I was a kid and let Jeff and Jim respond to them from their own perspective.
So, taking a break from podcasting, Bruce surprised Meg with a trip to Philadelphia and then Atlantic City in this funny bonus episode where we take about the best times during that weekend in April 2021. It was a lot of fun and we talk about the finniest moments when dining, travelling, siteseeing, and hanging out in the casino. We also hear from podcaster Antionette Blake (The Delaware Blogger) and play Një Pikë from Albania superstar Aurela Gaçe. We end the podcast with Bruce's Pianoland on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/4lZgvTWEAkTnPQbtvNUctm

Most podcasters are editing and doing podcast post-production using the free DAW (digital audio workstation) called Audacity. Audacity has tons of free tools and about a small fraction of them are very useful for podcasters. The Audacity effects menu is long. In this episode, we show you the effects that we utilize mostly to make our podcast sound professional as well as creating commercials and other fun audio clips. We cover the ins and outs of echo effect, Paulstretch, reverse, pitch, tempo, speed, reverb and one of the most challenging effects tools to use, but the most important one, the Audacity Compression tool. We also play Comfort Zone from Bruce Chamoff's Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/14uxlrzw9qoM5jAUw7JvKe
In this episode, we have fun with monotone podcasts where the voices of the hosts are not animated and stay on the same pitch. We have found on the New York City Podcast Network that over 50% of podcasts are monotone. Somehow, we also end up talking about Chinese food. We also play the hit ballad with Reflections of the Soul, a cool ballad written by Bruce Chamoff and Bret Sinclair.

It is very hard to describe a podcast in 5 words of less, but if we try to explain it in more than 5 words, we lose people, so I asked several experienced podcasters to do the same. Turns out, it was not as easy as one would think. This episode features my lovely co-host Meg Hope and podcasters Merrill Loechner, Frank Demilt, and Richard Butler. This episode also features my new single on Spotify called Steal My Soul. Click here to listen to this new single.
They say on wikipedia that A podcast is an episodic series of spoken word digital audio files that a user can download to a personal device for easy listening. Streaming applications and podcasting services provide a convenient and integrated way to manage a personal consumption queue across many podcast sources and playback devices. Wikipedia
A quick introduction to Conference Speaker Merrill Loechner who's presentation at the PodKnow 2021 online podcasting conference on Saturday, June 26, 2021 will be geared towards people starting a podcast.

After running a podcast network of over 20,000 podcast episodes, I listened to over 1,000 podcast episodes, I see 7 things that the most common podcasts do and they 7 of those same things that the best and most engaging podcasts do differently.
In this episode, I mention the details on:
Buzzsprout was down on Sunday February 21, 2021. Podcasters complained to me on the NY City Podcast Network at https://nycpodcastnetwork.com/. As of Monday, the 22nd, I still see issues with iTunes and podcast episodes not playing. Does this affect JUST Buzzsprout podcasts or does it also affect podcasts on other hosting platforms? I found some interesting information about Buzzsprout's issues on Twitter. I give you my reaction in this episode.
