Slam the Gavel welcomes back Laurie Smith, LMSW to the podcast. Laurie was last on Season 3, Episode 170 and Season 4, Episodes 37, 74 and 153 and Season 5 Episode 102. The last time Laurie was on we discussed how Mother's Day, Father's Day is a mixed bag for all of Us.
     Today we talked about how important the ACE's Scores are and how intergenerational trauma plays into them. Laurie pulled up on the screen (you can watch on YouTube) and showed diagrams of what actually plays into the ACE's Score and the solution is to be proactive. 2/3rds of the population score at least 1 on the ACE's. People with a score of six on the ACE's run more of a risk of dying 20 years early. 1/8th of the population has a score of six.
     Laurie explains the root causes and solutions. "It is easy to get into the tunnel vision of 'this is happening to me and I can't do anything about it,' AND if we walk through the world knowing that 2/3rds of the the population have at least 1 on the ACE's Score, everyone needs to know how this will impact their child." Bear in mind the 2/3rds of judges have scored at least 1 on the ACE's this is an opening to discuss how harmful they are being to others.
