When we think about growing our fruits, it's easy to assume they're going to grow in only in our quiet time or when we sit to pray specifically about it. We forget that there are real-life situations we encounter every single day that give us opportunities -- and most often, those real-life situations are going to bump up against our icky humanity and challenge our normal, typical fleshly responses.Support the show

The fruit of self-control isn't something we muster up on our own, but rather a confident and assured power that though a temptation be present, we have Christ’s strength and divine power to resist! That changes everything!Support the show

Have you ever heard the quote, "The family that prays together stays together?" Well, the same has been said with "The family the eats together stays together."But how do we accomplish this in simple and easy ways that work with the crazy schedules that seep into our lives? This week Sara shares a few of her practical approaches to spending time around the table or even closing the day with "table talk" but not the kitchen. Keeping it simple is what it's all about! Focus on the Family describes gentleness is a strong hand with a soft touch. It is a tender, compassionate approach toward others' weaknesses and limitations. A gentle person still speaks truth, sometimes even painful truth, but in doing so guards his tone so the truth can be well received. In my family we would even add "and guards his or her facial expressions!". When Paul wrote to the church of Galatia, he knew that they were having problems with conflict, frustration, division. His instruction on gentleness was built on the foundation of what he knew gentleness could do.Support the show

Faithfulness is the one fruit we actually give back to God as well as display for humankind. All the other gifts are really centered around how we share the gospel with the world. But faithfulness is worshipping what is NOT seen and not what IS seen. It says, “I trust you God," and shows the world we trust God. We're getting down to the last three fruits -- make sure to tune in for gentleness and self control in the coming weeks!Support the show
