Big, Huge, Wonderful Jesus makes His home with believers.  He chooses to indwell us. This should blow the minds of believers and unbelievers alike.

He's better than angels. He's better than Moses. He's the creator and builder of all things. He's worthy of glory and honor. He's the fulfillment of the Old Testament truths. He's High Priest and mediator. He's Helper of mankind.

Your earthly "house" is in the souls of all those You call Your own.  We are that house.

The PAIN-POINT of our temptation is exactly the HELP-POINT of God's grace.  Jesus has been tempted.  He successfully resisted temptation throughout His life.  It was difficult and painful for Him.  This means He can SYMPATHIZE with what we face daily. He sympathizes that it too is difficult for us.

But hold on, we are to sympathize with Him as well.  We are to join Him in the resistance to temptation.  We will need HELP.  There is a whole throne full of grace awaiting us. Let's join Him in the suffering, that is the resistance to temptation by drawing near to that grace.

Temptation is universal, ongoing and PAINFUL. It is where the rubber meets the road in the reality of Christian living. Temptation is no longer painful when it is yielded to.

RESISTING TEMPTATION is so difficult it is described as SUFFERING. Yielding to temptation is easy. There is painful work to be done at the borders of holy living.

Here's the great news: we have HELP. Jesus has been there. He did this right. He resisted perfectly. He can totally sympathize with the difficulty, with the suffering. People of faith get something that angels do not. Available to them is a process of redemption. They get a chance to be rescued. It is not angels God helps in this regard, it is PEOPLE.

How so?

• Resembles us. He becomes like us in taking on human flesh.
• Represents us. He becomes the high priest with authority of position enough to offer something on our behalf
• Rescues us. What He offers COUNTS. It is effective. It works. 
• Restores things. He resets things back. Destroys death and he who had temporary power over it.

Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers. 

• we have shared a humanity. That makes us brothers.
• we have shared the inherent suffering of humanity.  That makes us brothers.
• we have share a condition called death. For believers, He "tastes death: for us. That makes us brothers.
• we too can entrust and imitate Jesus in our response to suffering. That REALLY  makes us brothers.

As we suffer rightly, this marks us as Christians; as part of the Family Of God. Suffer well. It makes us "family" with Jesus. 

Here's a name of Jesus you don't hear everyday: DEATH TASTER.

The death that rightly is to be RECEIVED BY you is now TASTED and SWALLOWED up FOR YOU, if you RECEIVE HIM.  This is the good news.

Because He did this for us, positionally He is above everyTHING, He is above everyONE, He is above everyWHERE.

What is man that You are mindful of him? Does God think about ME?

This is one of the greatest questions in all of the Bible. People have been asking it for thousands of years. David asked it. Job asked it. Solomon asked it. Everybody should ask it because of HIS ANSWER. His answer is YES.

No president of the United States has ever had a single thought of ME cross their mind.  Never. Yet today I find that God Himself actually thinks about me; that He sets His heart on me; that He is MINDFUL of me; and maybe sometimes He even takes DELIGHT in me.

Jesus is superior to Angels
The message of Jesus is superior to the message of angels
The message of the New Testament is superior to the message of the Old Testament

The message is superior because HE is superior.
The message represents and reveals Him and ultimately the message IS HIM.

Therefore, Pay attention. Don't drift away. Don't neglect the message.
To embrace the message is to embrace the Master.

The "Problem" with angels is that Jesus is greater.

Don't get me wrong, angels are majestic, powerful, named, known, ready to go, mighty, 100% obedient, ministering, often terrifying, and they guard the interests of God.

They are created, they are not the Creator. They serve the throne, they don't sit on the throne. They worship God, God does not worship them. They are ministers, not the Master.

Though they are truly magnificent, at the end of the day, let's not worship angels. Let's worship the MAKER OF ANGELS.
