An effective KICK is 6x the power of a punch.  When we learn Judas "lifted up his HEEL" to Jesus we might pay particular attention. He's the bad example at the washing of the feet.

The good example is Jesus who shows us the necessity of Service.  

HIS SERVICE to us is the engine that makes us run to our SERVICE.

HIS SERVICE to us is the engine that makes us run to SERVICE.

Having your feet personally washed by the Savior is 100% not optional.  Today, He'll tell us that SERVING ONE ANOTHER is 100% not optional. We look to His service to kick us in the rear to get busy in service.  New discovery: YOU have the gift of Service!

You gotta love Peter.  With one sentence from Jesus, He moves from "You will NEVER wash my feet" to "You should wash my feet and the rest of me NOW". 

Today we learn that dirty feet=dirty souls so a spiritual foot washing is 100% required. Like Peter, we might consider moving from NEVER to NOW. Thank you for being here for this beautiful story. Today we hear Jesus Himself say "...I did not come to judge the world..." Why is that? Well, because you are judged already. You have been judged. You stand in current judgment. You will be judged. Yikes. 

Fortunately, that is not the end of the story. Yes you stand in judgment, but you also are offered a rescue.  Jesus finishes the sentence, "...but to SAVE the world."

What is God's role in human belief? 

He will draw the soul of those that will believe. He will harden the heart of those who will not. All who come to Christ do so on the heels of God's enabling grace.

Point #1: You don't have much time. This is no time to be yawning.

Point #2: Meantime, you are being HUNTED. Darkness is trying actively to overtake you. You have threats being arrayed against you.

The charge from Jesus, less than a week before His death is: Believe in the light. Believe in Him. Then, walk like you mean it. Listen. Subscribe. Whatever it takes.

Notice with me the principles from John 12

1. the first thing I notice is Jesus' HUMANITY
2. the second thing I notice is Jesus' UNITY with the Father
3. the third thing I notice is Jesus' PURPOSEFULNESS
4. Finally, I notice His gentle invitation.

along the way, when God decides to exert this power, Satan and evil will obey.

Jesus drops 3 truth bombs on some curious gentiles:

1.Maximal fruitfulness is CONDITIONED upon death & death determines fruitfulness

2.If you KISS the next world, it changes everything about THIS World

3. Making yourself nothing for Him makes you the most pleasing to Him

Jesus is going to have a salvation party. The question is: "Who is invited"? Today, as has been true throughout spiritual history, we find that the Gentiles, aka "greeks", are invited to this party along with His favorites, the Jews. 

Fortunately, Jesus “speaks Greek” because He “SEEKS Greek”

These Greeks were seeking Jesus because Jesus was seeking them.

Everybody loves the popular, powerful and successful Jesus. They are singing songs and imprinting their preferences on Jesus.  The problem with this great support is that it is a mile wide but only an inch deep. Jesus will continue to show this same crowd who He really is over the next week.  There will be sacrifice, teaching, suffering, love, death and a resurrection, all within the confines of one, GREAT week.
