There are drastic highs and lows in the pursuit of God's creation. This week's episode covers some of the ups and downs of this season and includes a couple stories of great excitement followed by desperate lows. It is the roller coaster ride of both hunting and fishing.
Most of the BCA family is in camp for the start of rifle season. We talk about some of our favorite opening weekend traditions, deer we have taken in the past and our expectations and anxieties about this season. Hope you give us a listen and can find parts to relate to. Leave us a message about some of your favorite opening weekend traditions.
Mike and Charlie check in this week with fellow BCA family member Kim Boyles about how the season is going and take a look forward to the start of gun season and some of the opening week traditions that we share. Next weeks podcast will be recorded at the BCA lodge on Opening Eve. You won't want to miss it.
As the pre-rut (chase phase) heats up our deer sightings have too. Unfortunately it seems our schedules have been full throttle this fall too. It has forced us to be intentional about picking our days to be in the stands. This past week it paid off for Mike (Cake). This weeks podcast Charlie (Boomer) joins Mike as he shares the story of what was one of the most "perfect" hunts ever conceived. Enjoy the moments and memories you make in the woods this season. We aren't promised another day.
We catch up this week with Jon Goodwin of Wildgame Freaks. We get the run down on his first kill in a saddle, his son's bear harvest, and Jon's heartbreaking loss of a wounded buck.
Give us a listen and give Wildgame Freaks a follow on Instagram and Facebook. Jon is also available to speak at events or podcasts. You can DM him on his Instagram Page.
This week Charlie and I are joined by BCA family members Ryan Marti and Kim Boyles for a run down of our archery season to this point.
This week while the BCA team is out and about I give some overview of our season to date and then dive in to the question "Is it ethical to bow hunt in the rain?" Seems like an odd question but I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Ever question what you are seeing in the woods? Have you ever looked at a tree and thought it was a huge rack on a buck? Today's podcast shares the story of a rock that wasn't a rock. Give it a listen.

We are off to a slow start here in NY. Temps are supposed to be in the 80's all week, crops are being harvested, and trespassers have been through our food plots. Sometimes you just have to hunt because it's good for your soul. On the positive side, BCA family member Emily managed to get her first buck ever with a bow on opening night. She joins us to tell the story and we also check in with Jon Goodwin of Wild Game Freaks to see how his first hunt went.
Archery Season begins here in NY on October 1st and is already open in other states. This week we change gears and rather than providing an interview we compiled seven different bowhunting stories. Our hope is that this will help get you excited to be back in the deer woods. This weeks guests include: Nate St. James, Adrian Wilson, Ryan Marti, Charles Kuhlkin, Kim Boyles, (Amish) Kyle Stoltzfus, and Mike Kuhlkin.
