Beards Creek Adventures

New proposed regulations for the NY deer season has Mike, Ryan, and Charlie processing what it might mean for us, for those in the Adirondacks, the deer herd, and most importantly the keyboard warriors and the self-declared biologists online. This was one of our more serious conversations and we basically landed with a "wait and see" plan and ultimately the thought that we aren't probably the right guys to ask.

Scott and I are both from Perry NY, but had to drive to Harrisburg to finally meet up in person. Scott drops by the podcast this week to talk about family, deer hunting, and cell cams. It feels like we really just scratched the surface of his knowledge. Enjoy the conversation, we will certainly be connecting again with Scott in the future.

After three attempts this podcast is finally recorded. The stories sadly didn't get any better. We talk about new co-hosts, the infamous fawn massacre of 2025, Charlies engagement, and Jacob's near death experience in Vermont.

This week's episode is a little off the beaten path. Mike takes on the persona of the angry old man and invites you to join him in a good old fashion rant. Listen to the whole thing as he circles back around.

Mike is joined this week by one of BCA's regulars Kim Boyles. They talk about what it's like having a girl in camp at times, Kim's experiences as a new hunter in her late 30's and how she is working to pass the tradition on to the next generation.

Former guest, now co-host Ryan Marti shares a bit more about himself and his hunting experiences while also taking some fun shots at Mike. This conversation goes down a lot of rabbit holes - from hunting in wool, to taking kids hunting, back around to maple tapping and a return to the traditional lifestyle. Ryan is going to be a fun addition to the program.

Mike flies solo this week and talks a bit about the thoughts rolling around in his head this season. It's been a good year but life changes just like the seasons. It doesn't always feel great, but it doesn't mean it's wrong.
