Our third BCA Rapid (short) continues our conversation about our theology of stewardship. In this episode we dive into the concept of land ownership versus leasing the land. Scripture takes us to an understanding that we don't and never will "own" the land. We are to be caretakers, stewards, but the earth is God's not ours, we are simply leasing it. We love interacting with you all, drop us an email or message on social media and if you enjoyed the podcast leave us a like or even better a review. This rapid episode starts with an apology. Back on episode 91 and prior, we shared that we had some trees damaged by a farmer who was clearing land around us. I was upset, hurt, even angry. I never should have gotten in front of a mic until I had time to process. As a result I made some harsh claims such as farmers being greedy. I painted with too broad of a brush. I believe when you offend publicly, you should also apologize publicly and so the first part of this episode is just that.

The second part of the episode walks us through the downfall of humanity. How sin has entered in to our world and the ramifications of that which we see on the land even today. The original man and woman (Adam & Eve) believed they were on the same level as God. We the created will never be equal to the Creator and most of our sinful acts come from our efforts to be the Creator.

We are in the business of interviews, today's guest is one who has left us feeling thankful and blessed. Andy shares his passion for the outdoors and for Christ so easily and you will be able to readily hear his emotion in this episode. It was such an honor to spend this hour with Andy. Rugged Cross Outdoors is a ministry that sees each trip to the woods, lakes, fields and streams as a mission trip. What a beautiful perspective. This week we introduce a new, ongoing series of short podcasts which we affectionally call "Beards Creek Rapids." In this podcast we look at the foundation of creation. From here we will be building a theology of earth keeping. Today's episode is heavy on scripture, future episodes will be heavier on how we apply it to what we are learning about farming and habitat management. We welcome your comments, insights, and even criticisms. Leave them here, on our social media sites, or email us at [email protected]

On episode 91 Charlie and Mike discuss the pros and cons of logging when it's done right versus when it is done solely for quick cash. The conversation quickly turns to a discussion about the greed that is pervasive in Industrial Farming. More livestock, means more feed, which means more fertilizer, which means great lasting negative impacts on the land. We don't profess to be experts in farming, but we are recognizing more and more that our current system is flawed at best and more likely simply broken. We want to leave something for the next generation but we are robbing the land of nutrients, quality plant life and trees. The legacy we might be leaving is a agricultural desert. We welcome any feed back you may have on this topic and as always we ask you to support those who support us.

One of our goals at BCA this year is to highlight more ministries that are effectively using the outdoors to connect kids to their Creator. This week's guest, Eric Sheetz is in the trenches with kids. He works with FCA Outdoors to connect with kids and their families through the shooting sports, fishing, hiking, and hunting. Eric is a gentle soul who has an incredible story that led him from a career in the environmental industry to working with kids in the outdoors. Give this one a listen - I promise you will be moved by what he shares.

For many the genre of outdoor writing is our connection to the history of hunting. Authors like Robert Ruark, Gene Hill, and Corey Ford transport us to days in the field gone by. This week's guest is very much in the same company. Steve Piatt shares his life experiences, his love for his dogs, and even some thoughts on the state of hunting in New York and in the US. This was one of my favorite interviews of all time. Steve is a humble, gentle, and yet brilliant man. He shares from the heart and it was an honor to be able to finally get him on the podcast with us. Be sure to check out his article in this month's NYON about the "Routine Life of a Labrador."
