Same old same old Christmas year after year...

This third weather-inspired song by Tom has guest vocalist Scott Besaw singing lead. Scott teaches music at The Old Town School Of Folk Music and often performs live around Chicago. His shows are always a blast - check out the schedule at Scott's website.

This one was inspired by many of our workplaces, and the game Cube Farm, by Cheapass games. It's the first demo of the song, recorded at the cabin in Wisconsin.

Another version of this song was released on our Cheapass Album, and yet another will be on our live album.

This song was inspired by an idea from Dana while working on the website and Tom realized into a song within a week. We then used the golden throat of the Beatnik Turtle's bass trombone player as our announcer since he does professional voice-over work. (He cut us a break on his rates!)*

*Well, actually he didn't.

Things have been pretty busy at Beatnik Turtle headquarters the last few weeks getting ready for the release of The Indie Band Survival Guide written by our very own Jason and Randy! We have new Beatnik Turtle songs in the pipeline, but in order to get everything ready for the book's release we decided to present encores of some of the best of last year's songs.

A year ago at this time, Randy, Jason, Ryan, and Tom were at a podcaster party at Dragon*Con. On the balcony, we met Chris Miller (whose podcast can be found here) what he does for a living and the reply was "I turn caffeine into code." Luckily, guitars were close at hand and this song was off to a fast start!

At first we thought Ms. Teen South Carolina was missing a few marbles with her "maps" speech, until we realized she was actually broadcasting a secret coded message to girls everywhere to rise up and unite.

This song about girls rising up and taking over the world is dedicated to all Grrls everywhere (you know who you are - Peggy, Rosie, Tara, Carrie, Mur, Tabz, and all cool others we know who are making things happen and getting things done). You rule! It's your world, we're just sightseeing.
