Ty and Nick are in a serious mood on this addition of Beats & Eats.  The duo discuss the recent alleged, racist remarks by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.  Ray and Gelso analyze the reaction so far by the basketball world, as well as give their opinions on what consequences Sterling should face.  This is a must listen,but not "just" for basketball fans.  It's an important discussion about race right here in the "virtual lounge." In the last portion of the show, Ty and Nick touch on the life, work and legend of Dr. Jack Ramsay, who passed away today, at the tender age of 89.

Thomas Sobieski has been a mainstay in the restaurant industry for decades. Tom has served tables, managed dining rooms and greeted guests for years in the NEPA dining scene. Better known as Tommy, Sobieski has made his biggest impacts mixing spirits and

making guests laugh and feel comfortable. The beverage manager at many local-area restaurants, Tommy has found his home at The Beaumont Inn as General Manager and the Wine Semmolier.

Attending the prestigious Wine School of Philadelphia, Tommy has found his niche. Sobieski will join a select club of certified Sommoliers' in the Northeaster Region of Pennsylvania.

Tom's latest venture? He's taking his talents to the World Wide Web. His new wine site called, The Wine Buddhist, is now under construction. Stay tuned to Beats & Eats for updates on Sobieski's career. In the meantime, Tommy published this blog post on Beats & Eats explaining the correlation between wine and Buddhism.

Cookbook Series: 1st Edition

For our 1st entry into our Cookbook Series, we welcome Chef Gary Edwards to the Virtual Lounge.

Chef Gary is a long-time friend of Nick Gelso, he has been a hallmark of the NEPA culinary industry for over 2 decades. Edwards' experience includes country clubs, resorts, hotels and now his own property, Fire and Ice on Toby Creek.

When not in the kitchen, Gary can often be seen running or riding his bike through the streets of the Kingston area; exercising and fitness has always been a big part of the chef's life. As you'll hear into today's B&E Bite, that passion for healthy living has followed Chef Gary into his menu planning at Fire and Ice.

In our 1st Cookbook Recipe, Chef Gary offers a savory, yet light, spring dish. His German inspired, Schnitzel Style Breaded Berkshire Pork Dish, has local ingredients all over the plate. The Berkshire Pork is sourced at a Northeast PA (NEPA) farm. Also locally, farm-raised are Gary's dairy and produce items.

This Schnitzel style, panko breaded (local) pork dish will give you the perfect meritage of rib hugging, savory, home-style cookin' with light, crisp, spring-like, produce features.

You won't leave Fire and Ice hungry with this spring-menu treat; nor will you find your day dragging behind you because of  some of the heavy basics featured in the dish. The only thing dragging out of Fire and Ice after a Chef Gary Edwards' meal, is time; you'll be wishing the day wouldn't end so you'd have time to eat some more.

The Virtual Lounge is open....

Ty Ray opens the lounge, on-location, at Reality Rally in Temecula California, for a very special guest.

Boston Celtics Locker Room Reporter for CLNS Radio, Jared Weiss, sits down with Ty Ray to discuss Jared's story, how he became a sports locker room reporter and the art of covering live games for the NBA and NHL.

The incredibly interesting aspects of Ty's conversation with Jared are their sharing of mutual stories. Ty's roots are in covering Denver sports. His experience spans two decades. Jared would be considered the new, internet era of reporters.

The two discuss the differences in sports coverage in the Twitter era and much more.
