The Attitude of an Encourager

1. Being Genuine: Speak from the heart. Authenticity matters more than enthusiasm
2. Listen First: It’s important to understand someone’s struggle before offering encouragement

How to be an Encourager:

1. Start Small: Simple phrases like “Good work!” or “I appreciate you” are powerful
2. Pay Attention: Notice effort and growth in others. 
3. Write it Down: Notes or messages count just as much as spoken words. Sometimes these are even more impactful because the person can refer to them over and over
4. Reframe Your Mindset: It’s not about being overly cheerful; it’s about noticing value
5. Practice Gratitude: The more you recognize good, the easier encouragement becomes
6. Keep it Authentic: Encouragement that sounds like you will feel natural and sincere

Places where we can be Encouragers:

1. Workplace: During stress, change, or teamwork challenges
2. Schools: When students need confidence or persistence
3. Home and Family: To strengthen love and connection
4. Friendships: To remind others they’re not alone
5. Faith and Community Groups: To nurture spiritual and emotional support
6. Teams and Clubs: To build unity and morale
7. During Personal Struggles: In seasons of loss, illness, or transition
8. Everyday Life: Small acts of encouragement can change someone’s day

We recently got to soak up the beauty of time spent at the beach on our annual family vacation! We are going to share some of the beautiful things we got to experience on that trip and some takeaways that we can all learn from the beach.

Prayerfully ask yourself some questions:

• Are you intentionally collecting life’s moments like seashells on the beach?
• Are there any opportunities you need to grab before it’s too late?
• Are you trusting God through the waves of life?
• Is there something you need to release control of, so that God can work in you and through you?
• Are you actively present with your people (your spouse, your kids, your parents, your friends), or are you constantly distracted and not giving them the attention they desire? 
• How about with God? Is it difficult or easy to feel His presence?
• What practical steps or boundaries can you put in place to be more present?
