Kirsten Lindsmith is an author, artist, consultant, and autism advocate from New York City. After receiving an ASD diagnosis at the age of 19, she began co-hosting the online television show Autism Talk TV and speaking at conferences and events about her experience as a young woman on the spectrum. Kirsten has written columns for Wrong Planet and Autism After 16, and was profiled in The New York Times. Kirsten graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Vertebrate Ontogeny and Phylogeny. She currently works as a therapist in partnership with Melody of Autism, and as a consultant for behavioral and sensory needs.

In the conversation Kirsten speaks about what Autism is and what it is not. The misconception and stereotypes of Autism. The division between Aspergers and Autism, and the divisions between ‘Low functioning’ and ‘high functioning’ and its implications. Kirsten also addresses why Autistic women are often misdiagnosed, Autism and Empathy and mistaking the autistic individual as sociopathic, masking, cognitive looping and how it refers to Autistics special interests, how autistic traits affect social and romantic relationships, sensory processing disorder, and more.

Kirsten also address the overlap of ADHD, OCD, Bipolar and Autism.

Pay close attention to your closest relationships. They are mirroring back to you your deepest core beliefs about yourself.

We can use our relationships to learn more about ourselves. Our self-love or lack of love will be reflected back to us through their mirror of relationships. Depending on our beliefs our relationships can hold deep joy or deep sadness.

No matter who the person, what the face, you are always there with yourself being mirrored through your relationships. Until we do the inner work of seeing Self through our relationship we will continue to attract the same people, for change doesn’t happen outside, but from within.

Paying close attention to the highly narcissistic person, we can use all of our relationships to get to our core wound. Our core wound will be magnified in this relationship with the narcissist/highly narcissistic individual.

Outside of that all our relationships are showing us ourselves.

When we know this about relationships we can become more mindful of who we date, marry and especially who we choose to have children with. We also become mindful of toxic friendships and trauma bonds with family members so that we can create the life we want.

Knowing this secret about relationships will empower you to transform your relationships.

I also do a little decoding on the Importance of mirrors in Hollywood movies to get a deeper innerstanding of the power of self-reflection and empowerment.
